Although Troy, Alabama has grown over the years, it still relies heavily on the University, which is the town’s main source of tourism and revenue. The town does a good job of welcoming the college students and the majority of the activities held here are geared toward them. The most active time for local residents and students is Troy University football season. Families and students come to enjoy the game, along with the University's alumni.
Troy’s University Activities Council (UAC) offers many activities for students that include everything from laser tag to pool parties to cookouts. UAC also collaborates with the local movie theater, Continental Cinema, which allows students to view one movie for a dollar every other Wednesday. The other big events that UAC offers are Octoberfest and Spring Fling—both are festivals with food, games, and recreation activities.
