3 College Sophomore

Weather: Weather does not really affect the campus experience. The winter time can sometime cause a mess on the roads, due to poor plowing. Overall, weather doesn't cause any issues. In the spring it is very nice because you can lay in the park to study, hang with friends, or just relax.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The campus is small so when is it "gross" outside, it is just a short walk to class, dinning room, or fitness center.

3 College Junior

Weather: It gets very cold very fast in upstate, NY. The heating system in our campus is very poor.

4 College Junior

Weather: The weather is fairly mild in Albany. Therefore, there is not much of an effect on the campus and classes. I will say that they have a great system of reviewing and notifying students if and when classes are cancelled which is a nice relief.

4 College Senior

Weather: Normal New York – The weather here is pretty much what you would expect living in upstate New York. The college is right next to the Hudson so sometimes it can snow a lot, and we can have some flooding.

Russell Sage College is located in upstate New York in Troy. In the summertime, temperatures can reach the mid-80s or higher, and the humidity can be unbearable at times. Do not be surprised if it is still humid in September. For the most part, it rarely rains during the summer, so people can stay outside all day, every day. The fall and spring seasons are considerably cool but refreshing at the same time. Temperatures can vary between the low 50s and mid-60s. It usually rains the most during fall and spring, so come prepared with rain boots and a waterproof jacket.

The winter time is very cold, and it snows frequently in New York. Temperatures range from low 30s to mid-40s. Warm boots, a sweatshirt, and a coat should keep people warm. Since Sage is located in a city, in extreme snow emergencies there are snow emergency routes in which people may have to move their cars from the street to a parking lot. This is where having a parking permit comes in handy. The College rarely closes, but some classes may be canceled; Public Safety will inform the students through e-mail or text messages of news and updates during extreme weather conditions or emergencies.
