Campus Strictness: The strictness at my school can be a bit excessive at times, however, its okay. It is definitely stricter than other schools I have been too.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Average polices apply at sage. No surprises.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Underage drinking and drug use is a big policy violation, you will have to take a course online about drinking and drug use. Academic honesty is taken very seriously, which is understandable.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The officers are extremely friendly and easy to get a long with. If you need help with anything (locked out of your room to driving you back to your dorm from a party) they are there.

2 College Senior

Campus Strictness: The people the have employed as public safety officers are really rude with the exception of one older gentleman. They are very lazy, and will go out of their way to make things inconvenient, we have to pay a $500 studio fee and the public safety officers will sometimes refuse to open said studios. I've personally received a parking ticket for not having a sticker when I did in fact have a parking sticker in plain sight on my rear view mirror where it was supposed to be.

Overall, the atmosphere is very lenient, and students do not have to constantly worry about doing something wrong. Faculty and staff understand that students are there to learn, so they want students to make small mistakes so they can fix them in the future. Alcohol consumption is not permitted on campus, and the administration is most strict about underage drinking and drug use. In terms of academic strictness, even though it is up to the student to attend class, most professors enforce attendance and usually allow one absence that will not count against the student’s grade. If an emergency occurs, professors are usually more lenient if the student talks to them; they want students to seek help if need be so they can be flexible if a student is having trouble or if an emergency occurs. Mostly, professors just want students to hand in their work on time and not make excuses.

The administration is strict on dorm visitation more so with overnight visitors than day visitors because of the need to keep everyone safe. Students need to sign overnight visitors in so Public Safety knows who is in the building in case anything were to ever happen. If they do not sign their guest in, then they could be written up or receive a warning. Police and RAs are fairly tolerant, but they can be strict when it comes to dorm room regulations, so students should respect and follow all of the rules.

Facts & Statistics

Students Are Most Likely to Get Caught...
  • Being too noisy either in dorm rooms or in a specific area on campus, where silence or quietness is taken seriously after certain times
  • Drinking or doing drugs in dorm rooms
  • Having a pet in a dorm room (no pets allowed)
  • Parking in the wrong area (being parked in a "do not park" zone or being parked on the wrong side of the street on street cleaning days)
  • Underage drinking
Visitation Policies
The College is kind of strict on visitation policies, but only because they are for everyone's safety. If a student is having a day visitor, then he or she needs to sign in at the front desk of the dorm room, only if the guest is staying past 8 p.m. and is present in the dorms. If a student is having a visitor spend the night, then he or she needs to sign that person in at Public Safety, and both roommates need to agree on the person staying. Again, this is for everyone's safety, and it is aimed mostly towards freshman students. The College's visitation policies do not really affect life on campus; they are just another regulation for students to become familiar with and respect.
Did You Know?
In terms of protests and demonstrations, Sage professors actually encourage students to fight for what they believe in, and they want to see students being active. Professors and faculty stress that students should become involved politically, as well as in terms of protest, since it is one's right to do so.
