Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Be interactive with faculty and other departments on campus because they might put in a good word.
  • Fill out the online application so there will be no worries about mailing out paper work.
  • If students are unsure about what they are supposed to fill out, they should call the admissions office at the College. The staff is more than willing to help.
  • It is also a good idea to fill out the application with a parent present because they will ask for parent/guardian information.
  • Keep the grades up throughout high school and become involved in many extracurricular activities as well as community service.
  • Sage just recently dropped the ACT and SAT score requirement because they feel that it does not reflect the student's work ability; however, these tests will still need to be taken for other colleges so please take them.
  • Start the process early because the applications do have deadlines.
  • Visit the College because it will introduce the prospective student to college life at Sage. This will make the final college decision easier.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Some students feel that certain employees of the school are not in the least bit helpful or pleasant, so students need to get to know faculty, staff, and who they can go to if they need help.
  • Staying involved and becoming active in the community is a big part of Sage's curriculum, so students should participate in clubs, organizations, and campus events.
  • The College makes it seem like everyone is super nice to freshmen when prospective students visit, but students really need to take time in order to know one another. Students are overall friendly and nice once you get to know them.
  • The dining hall food is not as good as they make it seem when students come to visit.
  • The school does not help students with problems and has a tendency to create more problems financially. Students are expected to fix their own problems and to pay close attention to their financial aid payments.
Interviews & Information Sessions
Call (518) 244-2217 or send an e-mail to admission@sage.edu anytime during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Admissions Office is open Monday through Friday and on weekends when events or information sessions are being held. Interviews are held during working hours, except over breaks. It is best to make connections with professors and students at Sage, as well; call to make an interviewing appointment.
Campus Tours
Campus tours run most Mondays through Fridays, except between semesters, over breaks, and during finals. Students should call (518) 244-2217 in advance to schedule a campus tour or visit. The tour will run based on the prospective student's availability; however, there is a list of scheduled events and tours that students can sign up for on the Web site under the Admissions tab.
Overnight Visits
Students can call the Admissions Office to schedule an overnight visit; there are usually a few dates set up in advance from which the prospective students can choose. Students who participate in an overnight visit normally stay with freshmen so they can see exactly what they will be experiencing in the upcoming year. Also, many prospective students stay overnight on the same day so they will not be alone and can become familiar with the campus surroundings and courses together. If prospective students have friends who already attend Sage, it would be a good idea to see if they are willing to host your visit because this will make it more fun and less scary.
Did You Know?
Freshmen students are usually the ones hosting overnight visits. When prospective students come to visit, the freshmen show them around campus and take them to classes.
