Facilities: My school has a multimillion dollar studio where local artist and major artist come to be recorded and have their music mixed and mastered. It is known to be the best Art school in the United States. The Audio program is fairly new, only being in existence at AI for 4 years.

Academic Experience: I am in the Video Production program and am looking to switch my major next quarter to Audio Production. In the 10 weeks that I have been going I have learned things I couldn't believe I didn't know earlier. Video Production at the Art Institute is fun and allows me to be creative with a camera and put my visions on film. The Audio is also great, I have a course in Fundamentals of Audio and that allows me to be creative in a whole different way, I can paint a picture by how I describe something in a song or audio book and allow the listener to visualize whatever my vision is, I do this with descriptive words and emotions within the voice. I think it's great that I am learning all of these different elements.

Academic Experience: I will be earning my Bachelors in Audio Production which will guarantee me to make at least 70k a year in my field, and since I am dedicated and driven to my field I will exceed the norm. There are two studios to allow students to record themselves or other talents. I am taught the fundamentals of music and video, the different microphones and cameras, the lighting and sound quality of a room and the differences they make. The unique aspects of my program is that the instructors are very hands on and have been in the video and music industries for decades before.

Academic Flexibility: though I have had a better process in tranfering in credits from a privious school, tranfering out is a headacke waiting to happen. also because this school is more foced on keeping money in thier pockest, they have cut all of our teachers down to part time, which means classes are now not avaiable for us to take because our teachers dont have the time to teach them, which in turn puts some of us behind in our program and there for spending more money to a school we are not satifyed with.

Overall Experience: from the begining its been a rough road with this school. we were promised kits for our program but they were discontiued and it seem no one was told about it, so showing up to the first day of school unprepaired was not fun. Then after finally getting the money form the school to get the equipment needed there was still the unknow out of pocket cost of supplies such as film and printing paper that was not told to us. I would say be prepaired to spend at least an extra $100-$200 per term depending on the classes and quality of supplies you want to buy. The only thing that made up for this is the teachers that worked with us students and really helped us do what we needed to do.

Tuition & Financial Aid: this is a for profit school. Its all about the money. It is basicly up to you to have your financises together. the finacial aid office dose not fully explain your plan to you so its difficult to really know whats going on with your money, or if your paper work is up to date. try to get any scholarship and get good grades to try to apply for inschool scholarships.
