College Junior

Nightlife: I do not go out and party ever so I honestly cannot answer either way; but I do know that we have free transportation from anywhere in our town back to campus, so if someone gets left behind or cannot drive themselves a phone call will get them back to their dorm safe and for free.

The nightlife scene for freshmen and sophomores is made up of pre-parties and house parties that resemble the ones thrown in high school when someone's parents were out of town. The cops usually pull up to the party halfway through the keg, and everyone takes off to their second-choice party. Fraternity parties are a huge part of the social scene for freshmen and sophomores, as well. Seeing a guy coming out of the dorms dressed up as a giant tomato, a candy cane, or decked out in '80s gear is a regular weekend occurrence, and girls are usually right behind them dressed in theme but tweaked in a way that is more flattering to their figure.

This homemade fun lasts until the clock strikes midnight on your 21st birthday, and then it is bars, bars, bars for your remaining college career. Lubbock may not have a ton of bars, but it has some great ones. The Depot District is home to several popular bars, and it attracts a crowd with its promises of live music and great drink specials. But when students are in the mood to go out close to home, they shoot across the street from campus to the bars on Broadway. This destination is obviously popular, as shown by the long lines that form outside of each of the five or so most popular bars. Besides the lines, one other feature these bars have in common is the dress code: You can wear anything from a T-shirt to a cocktail dress, and you will fit right in.

Did You Know?
There are several bars around Lubbock that allow minors to enjoy the venue without being 21. The catch is that showing a bouncer your ID which says you are under the legal drinking age results in two huge black Xs being drawn on your hands in permanent marker. If that scene doesn't suit you, there are always frat parties, sorority date parties, concerts at coffee shops, bowling, house parties, dorm parties, or you could just get a big group together and go out to dinner.
