3 College Sophomore

Transportation: There is construction going on right now around the school, making it difficult to get around, but the bus system available for the students goes all over and is very convenient to have. I take the bus or bike to class, and have my car for other things.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: I brought a car so i'm not sure

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Campus shuttles are usually overpacked during peak hours, sometimes so full you'd rather wait for the next one because people are almost overflowing out of the bus. As for city transportation there is little to none and the city buses are almost incredibly hard to figure out where to be picked up at.

College Freshman

Transportation: i never used the public transportation

3 College Freshman

Transportation: honestly for me i am from Houston so i just get a ride with someone that is also from Houston. I live on campus(for now), so everything i need is in walking distance. i have never taken the bus. when i live off campus i definitely need a car. it is just easier instead of having to rely on the bus or someone else.

Texas State has a great bus system. You pay for it in your tuition, so there is no upfront fee to ride them. San Marcos also has a tram service that runs to campus as well as areas the Texas State bus routes don't include. Certain times during the day, the buses are packed full of students, and other times, there are hardly any students on the buses. Buses run from as early as 7 a.m. to as late as 11 p.m. They are pretty punctual as far as getting to the stops on time, which are spaced at about 10 to 45 minutes depending on the day (after 7 p.m., the buses don't run as often).

There are also buses that take you to Austin and San Antonio. These buses do cost money: $40 for a bus ticket worth five round trips or $6 per ride. A little bit pricey, but, so is gas. The San Antonio bus will even drop you off and pick you up at the Tanger Outlet Mall.
