Off-Campus Housing: There are a variety of complexes in the area. You can find anything from houses to duplexes to studios and two bedrooms. It's better than cramped dorm rooms and actually can be a lot cheaper if you budget wisely. Totally worth it. You can find a place to live anywhere.

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is really nice but should be cheaper for the students that have to pay their way through school and can not afford the ridiculous 600 a month for rent.

2 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: the landlords hassle students about contracts because they know they can take advantage of us.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Most apartment complexes in San Marcos are cheap and crappy quality, however, there are more complexes available for multiple roommates (3-5) AND its easier to find less expensive places. There are at least 4 new complexes being built as of 2014, too.

Off-Campus Housing: I just don't like being far from campus. The bus ride to campus can take awhile and parking is expensive.

There are a lot of options when it comes to off-campus housing. You don't have to search on your own, either. There are apartment locating offices around the Downtown Square with realtors who are more than happy to set you up with the perfect apartment, house, or townhome.

Texas State also has apartment locating options, where they pair you up with other Texas State students based on a small profile you submit. Check out the Department of Housing and Residential Life page on the Texas State website for more information on getting set up with a sweet apartment close to campus.
