Computers: I use the computer labs every day at my school and they are great. The service is almost never down and the printers are very reliable and you just pay a fee in your tuition so you don't have to worry about it on a day to day basis.

3 College Junior

Weather: Usually the weather is awesome with the river on campus!!

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: I don't consider this campus a school with drugs everywhere.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: We have everything from apartments to cottages to houses. The build additions to apartment complexes every year because the school population is so big. They are building at least five new complexes for next year.

Parking: Parking on campus is crazy. The only reason you'd need a car is to go home or work. The parking permit prices are pretty expensive as well, like around 200-300 dollars. Depending on the situation, a parking ticket could be from 20-200 bucks, so be careful about that. But you can also get one ticket waived, but only one. Theres never alot of availability of spaces, unless you're a commuter. Or get there super early.

Drug Safety: I haven't seen any drug use or heard of any peer pressure. Alot of poeple drink underage and get in trouble for it if they are caught but it tends to be handled well.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are so many organizations and clubs that you can really see the diversity texas state has to offer. Everyday i see blacks, whites, hispanics, asians, and all other races all over campus. There are many different religious and political groups on campus and the diversity is amazing.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There have been incidents of gas leaks due to construction going on, and there was a bomb threat but everyone thinks that was called in my a student because it was midterms. But there is tons of campus security and they have bobcat buddies to drive or walk you anywhere on campus if you are feeling unsafe. All around it's a generally safe campus.

Guys & Girls: Everybody at Texas State is amazing. The females are beautiful as ever and the dudes are athletic as heck. Its fun to be amongst these people.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: This campus has a huge diversity rate. It seems like it is mainly blacks and whites i see the most though.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Its usually really sunny and clouds are in the skies. There has been some days were it is freezing outside and i don't like the cold but other than that it is all good.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: The campus is very diverse. Most of the student body is white, but everyone is very accepting of each other.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: They aren't really strict at all. Just don't get caught doing dumb things and you'll be fine.

4 College Senior

Campus Strictness: This is a no smoking campus and the campus police are strict about underage drinking or drug use.
Students must maintain academic eligibility for financial aid, and students seeking to attain or keep officer positions with organizations must be in good academic standing.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: Campus police are very responsive and students sign up for emergency alerts that are immediate to mobile phones. Self defense and safety classes are offered, also students can call for a free ride across campus in the evening

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: There are many off campus dining options near campus, including fast food chains, good local eateries ;like Root Cellar and affordable food trailers in two new locations just downhill from campus.
Many give student discounts and some such as LoveBaked Cupcakes has both a frequent cupcale card ( 10th free) and Monday is half price day for Texas State students. Also there are coupons to be found in the Community Impact free magazine, and college coupons.

Weather: The weather here is usually warm to hot, with mild non existent winters. The only reason classes might be cancelled is due to flash flooding, or extreme ice in Jan once in a blue moon.
Students generally can take advantage of the warm weather to sunbathe, or swim at Sewell Park.

4 College Junior

Facilities: I have always found everything I needed here on campus. The are building new facilities and making beautification improvements as well. As a Political Science major, I love the new building the opened this year for our program to use.

4 College Junior

Weather: The only time weather is an issue here is when there is a flash flood that causes transportation issues, or power outage issues. I only remember classes being canceled a handful of times for flooding or winter storms. Most of the time, the weather is beautiful here in the central Texas hill country!

4 College Junior

Academics: I'm in the Liberal Arts College and love the classes and professors I have had so far. There are many diverse academics and programs to get into here at Texas State, and lots of areas to either get a group study together, or even have a quiet place to yourself to study. Plus, the campus is beautiful and they are always improving it. Some might be thrown off about walking up and down the hills here, but I find it is nice to have that excercise between classes.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: The on-campus dining options are varied, but sometimes there is too much fast-food type of options for my liking. However, if you have the time between classes, there are a lot of places you can either walk or take a short drive to around campus.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: There are a lot of diverse frats and sororities and they all are dedicated to their names and each other.

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Hard to find parking and all the close places require expensive permits.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: The professors here are very smart and educated people who want us to strive and succeed.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: The academic are decent, but I feel like I'm being held back sometimes.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
