Campus Housing: Living on campus is perfect because all of my classes are within a 10 minute walk from Laurel, the only "bad" part is the location is at the bottom of the hill and your classes are in Supple or the Mitte complex for science, physics, or art majors. The rooms in Laurel are kinda small, but the showers are huge and have really great water pressure and changing areas, as well as they get warm really quickly. The RAs also provide a lot of activities every week as well as being really friendly.

Since it's traditional style it isn't as expensive as a suite style dorm. But it's location is perfect for being right by all of the classes along the quad and the river isn't too far either.

Health & Safety: We are alerted through text or email the SECOND something out of the ordinary has happened. Just recently we were alerted of a man who stole some items. It's great TXST really cares about the safety of their students.

Greek Life: Well everywhere you go you will see something Greek related. My best friend is in a sorority and I've kind of been all up to date with Greek events and parties. I think it mainly has to do with who you hang out with.

Off-Campus Dining: I'm all for fast food! Off-campus food is basically your typical burger, fried chicken, fries and whatever fast food item you can think of. The cost is cheap! Convenience is well since mostly everything is walking distance! Student discounts are offered all over the place!

5 College Freshman

Nightlife: Everywhere you go for nightlife you are guaranteed to have a good time!

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: We have a river that goes through campus!!! If you're ever feeling too hot go cool off at Sewell Park! There is also The Square which is downtown San Marcos and they have great restaurants and an awesome night life for the weekend nights! There is also the outlet malls which have like 200 stores!

Campus Housing: I personally love living on campus! Everything is so convenient and to your reach! I live in Blanco hall and I will be living there next year as well. It is the farthest dorm on campus, for it is all the way at the end but it's great, it's homey! You have the REC right there and a dining hall! I promise the walk to classes isn't bad at all! Everyone at every dorm is highly social! Cost are great! Housing process is kind of lengthy and it is a first come first serve basis.

Majors: I didn't really face any difficulties. The most important criteria for admission are high school GPA, class rank, and SAT scores.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I love my major and what I am studying! It's 100% me! I love to talk and socialize and meet new people and a MASS COMM major must be social! My career goals are to either work for film, radio or television! The only concern I have is that my major is highly competitive so you have to be the best of the best!

4 College Freshman

Transportation: I don't really need transportation I live in on campus. Everything is walking distance. I can walk to classes from my dorm in less then 15 minutes, I can walk to The Square and where my job is located at!

4 College Freshman

Academics: My specific major is awesome, we have our own building, and it's actually the oldest building on campus, its called Old Main and it's the building at the very end of the hill! Being a Mass Comm major you get to discuss lots of opportunities that are in store for us. We have a local radio station on our campus, we have University Club which is a journalism program, we have lots of open doors for us as well.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The Campus Shuttle is great because if you miss the bus the next one will come 10 minutes later. It also takes you to the apartments off-campus so it runs on-campus and off-campus.

Weather: I am not used to the weather. I am no used to that much rain.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: I have met a lot of people that come from the same places that I was raced. It is great to get to know so many people from different places in Mexico, or Argentina, or even Spains.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Thanks to the financial aid I am still in college.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: I love the school spirit on campus! On game days for either football, basketball or baseball there are students at the Quad announcing and reminding students about the games! The athletic facilities are great as well , our stadium is huge! When it comes to the games our players do their best and the team performance is great!

3 College Freshman

Weather: The weather is very bipolar here in Texas! Just recently it was very sunny and hot one day and the next day it was freezing cold and we had classes delayed because of Icy weather conditions! Regardless the weather can get beautiful and sunny to very cold and freezing in a matter of days, when it's freezing the walk on campus can be hell but luckily I don't have to walk that much!

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: I don't like the weather, but I like the campus and its surroundings. San Marcos is a small town so you have to have a little imagination to find something to do off campus, but Austin and San Antonio are just 20 minutes away.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: They seem very close together but they are still friends with the ones that are not involve in the greek life.

3 College Student

Scholarships: The financial aid process was a hassle, however I did receive most of the financial aid I needed.

3 College Student

Nightlife: Fraternity and apartment parties are the most popular scene for night life because many underage students get away with drinking at these places.

4 College Student

Drug Safety: This school is very popular in their drinking scene.

5 College Student

Diversity: This school is known for being very diverse and accepting. Most people that attend Texas State University are open-minded about many of the characteristics of the ethnically, socially, economically, religiously and politically diverse.

4 College Student

Campus Housing: Living on campus is really convenient, plus you meet lots of people. The cost isn't too bad and the housing process is farily easy.

4 College Student

Computers: There are plenty of computer labs around campus and many places for printing.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
