4 College Freshman

Diversity: The diversity couldn't be more than what it is today. Anyone is accepted throughout the school, campus life or through the community of San Marcos. And there are all types of organizations and clubs that either welcome or promote the nature of variety, political stand points, religious beliefs or even sexual orientation. Texas State is the place to be.

Academics: It is very interesting. I love my professors. Texas State is recognized for its strong and well-developed Criminology program. The curriculum is easy to follow and the facility in which most of the courses are held is in Hines building. Online quizzes and postings of the lecture notes makes the workload a lot lighter and easier to keep up with.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: The computers and other technology are great. The wifi is the only negative, its pretty spotty.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Majority of students are white. All the other ethnic groups mainly stick to themselves

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: The off campus apartments are all safe but the quailty of some needs improvement.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: There are so many different kinds of people from race, religion, culture, etc. There is so much to learn.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: We have an escort service called Bobcat Bobbies, which pick students up in a golf cart and take them wherever they need to go on campus from dusk until dawn.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: Sometimes it gets really hot, then walking around these hills is not too fun. But it is great exercise!

Guys & Girls: There are some handsome men here. The girls are all pretty meh. Average at best. The "cutest" girls you'll see here have gobs of make up and are the stereotypical bleached blonde over straightened sorority girls. SO MANY STEREOTYPICAL SORORITY GIRLS. OH! except one thing they fit every part but all of them are really fat.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I always feel secure, knowing that theres officers paroling campus.

5 College Junior

Computers: There are computer labs in many buildings and they have free printing. Wifi is accessible almost anywhere.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are several small well-established places to eat. Gills is my favorite place. It's right off the square. It's a small burger place that has daily specials that are a must. Grins is also very good, similar to Chili's but better food.

Campus Housing: Freshman experiences in dorm life will be different for everybody. I, myself, had an amazing time. Butler hall was the best place on campus. The people and the nature of the building setup made it incredibly fun to hang out in. Most of the dorms are the same. Some dorms like Blanco and Jackson have a lot more athletes and partiers but it all depends on a given instance.

Campus Strictness: They are apart of the campus for a reason to keep us all safe. Their strictness is a necessary "evil" but only an evil to the rebellious students.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: The river. Nothing else compares. It's one of the cleanest rivers in the world and stays at a constant 72 degrees which makes it quite fun to jump in regardless of time of year.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: The campus is beautiful. Many people are initially worried about there being so many hills. But I have found it to be a good amount of daily cardio. The people are friendly. We all understand what we are dealing with at Texas State, which are the hills. If you embrace what the on campus life is all about then you will have a great time enjoying the parks and the river.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There are a lot of different places that you can get food, but it gets tiring to get the same food all the time.

Nightlife: Night life for 21+ is perfect because there are so many bars in the square (downtown) and it is right next to the campus. you can walk there and have a safe walk back home. I do not know a lot of 18+ places, except a hookah bar on the square as well. There are a lot of parties though, so you will easily find something going on.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Options for freshmen are awesome here! There are many different halls that can be perfect for someone and each hall always makes you feel welcome. The brand-new ones think they are better than everyone else, so I recommend the older ones. yes, it is not that fancy, but the people are so much more welcoming and friendly.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The drug scene at Texas State is pretty good. After the school has banned cigarettes on campus, people have been getting tickets for it on campus. Also, they are pretty strict with marijuana, but it just depends in what hall you stay in. Drinking is really big here since there is a lot of people that are in frats/sororities.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I never feel like my life or anyone's life has ever been in danger. Everything is real chill

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Almost everyone you see is involved in the Greek Life at Texas State but no one treats you differently if your not. It really does not matter if your in or not.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Weather is beautiful and when it rains there is usually a lot of buildings you can quickly run into and avoid the rain, there are also a lot of of trees that limit the amount you get poured on.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Very professional and nice, they make you feel super comfortable

3 College Sophomore

Weather: It is close to the river thus it is humid most of the time.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
