Overall Experience: I love Texas State. Everything from the people to the classes to the scenery drew me in and I have no regrets about coming here. I have had so much fun growing as an individual and having this beautiful campus be a part of that. I think one of the best things about Texas State is the sense of pride of being a bobcat. Every person will never hesitate to yell 'State' if someone yells 'Texas' first. This is our mantra, so the pride is very tangible.

Drug Safety: I have yet to see any drugs or alcohol being consumed on campus. Texas State is also a smoke-free campus, which is great.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: It's Texas weather which means it can be pretty bipolar. We don't really have tangible seasons, and it is either hot or warm most of the time, but still manageable and beautiful.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Texas State is EXTREMELY diverse. Diversity has always been encouraged and sought after and it is always fun meeting people from all over the world.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Texas State has many buffet-style dining halls as well as some food court options. Both are close and satisfying.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: San Marcos is nicknamed ''San Marvelous'' because of it's beauty. There is always something to do, whether it is going to the river or shopping at the outlets.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Non- Greek students usually see the Greek community as shallow and annoying. This may not always be the case, but the stereotype kind of suits them at times.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: If you don't want to live on campus, Texas State has many apartment complexes within walking distance of the school that aren't very expensive. There are many complexes a little farther out as well, but trams run to and from those places many times a day.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Texas State has so much heart! Our teams are upcoming and our fans are amazing. Football games are never boring! The band is awesome and all sports staff are extremely helpful.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Community style residence halls are the best. You meet a ton of people that way and you are more exposed to the social side of campus. If you choose to have your own room, it is harder to make and build friendships or relationships in general.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Texas State University is known for having the prettiest population. The majority of students that attend here are very attractive and very friendly. Many dress well, and even the ones that don't still look good. It is very easy to make friends here and there are always organizations that want people to join!

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe on the Texas State campus. At night, the university is very well lit and if there was any uncertainty of safety, one could always call Bobcat Bobbies.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I am so happy with my program. I am barely getting into course work for my major and I love it. The professors are engaged and help no matter what.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I have heard the internships offered by the university are good programs and correlate to the major the student is working towards.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Texas State University is extremely diverse and tends to it's students well. Texas State has many programs to increase the safety of students, such as Bobcat Bobbies, a program that will pick up any student during the late evening into the early morning and take them anywhere on campus to ensure their safety and so they won't have to walk in the dark by themselves.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
