3 College Freshman

Transportation: I do not usually utilize the transportation offered here.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: I'm considered a minority, however, my feelings here do not reflect the statistics. Very diverse campus.

3 College Freshman

Weather: I'm from Texas, so I am used to the "bipolar" weather. It does not affect me much because I know I can't change it.

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: There is definitely a bar/clubbing culture at Txstate

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: Pretty bland most of the time with many chain restaurants with few healthy options. Some dining halls have mediocre salad options

3 College Senior

Diversity: There are many similar people on Texas State campus,

Parking: Usually the students' number 1 complaint is the parking. I have had a car since freshman year and have never bought a parking pass because of the ridiculous costs. I have always opted to park off campus very far away and walk and even then it is difficult to find a spot. I now live somewhat close to campus and always walk or bike.

4 College Senior

Majors: I really enjoy my majors and the classes I have taken. I wish the classes could have been smaller sometimes because there really are some fantastic teachers

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: I enjoy the area of San Marcos but sometimes does feel like a too-small-generic college town. Most students are forced to work in the Outlet malls and generally dislike it. Thankfully Austin is nearby with more opportunity for jobs and atmosphere

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Lots of availability very close to campus but not of the best quality. And the higher quality housing is usually unreasonably priced

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: There is a lot of crime in the areas surrounding campus, we get many emails a semester notifying us of another rape or robbery. Generally I dont feel extremely safe at night in the area

3 College Senior

Nightlife: Lots of options very close to campus, but all very clubby with little diversity

3 College Senior

Athletics: lots of fan support at the football games and not so much elsewhere

3 College Senior

Computers: wireless connection is great on campus but when you need to print something out on campus there is usually a decent line to use the computers

4 College Senior

Campus Strictness: I was able to get away with a lot while in the dorms my freshman year and never got in trouble and never really knew anyone that did

4 College Senior

Weather: Usually temperate climate, with the occasional crazy Texas lightning storm. The end of spring semester and beginning of fall semester are usually brutally hot and unbearable, but doesn't last long thankfully

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of food trailers in the area, but not at a great cost. Food is great though

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Not very many people attend varsity sports.

Off-Campus Housing: Live off campus if you can. It's cheaper than living in the dorms.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The drug scene isn't big here from what i'm able to see. Partying is a big thing here though.

4 College Freshman

Weather: The weather is always great here.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: They are very strict on some things and very lenient on others.

5 College Freshman

Scholarships: Financial aid was very easy to attain.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
