Weather: It is nice and sunny until it decides to rain and then it rains for about a week straight.

4 College Freshman

Computers: There a very large number of computer labs all over campus and a large number of printers available as well.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: They offer intramural sports for almost anyone that spends the time to put one together.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The buses run fairly regularly and are pretty big. The cost of the buses is very small and apart of your overall tuition.

Drug Safety: There is a surprisingly large drug and alcohol presence on campus. It is not out in the open however if you pay real close attention you can find it almost anywhere. If caught however there is a zero tolerance for drugs which is strictly enforced.

Greek Life: I do not know too much about them. What I have seen though is that they are very present in high traffic areas on campus advertising their group.

Health & Safety: We get alerted when anything serious happens on campus. They have a service called Bobcat Bobbies that offer rides across campus at later times in the night.

Campus Strictness: The rules are explained, so don't break them.

Off-Campus Housing: They advertise a lot and have lots of competition.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: You can always find something to do at night.

Campus Strictness: I live in Lantana, which is the all girls dorm. They are super strict when it comes to visitation. Boys have to be escorted in and out of the dorm. I don't think any of the other dorms have these strict rules though.

Majors: My major is Accounting. I don't know what to think of it yet, because I have not actually had an accounting class yet.

Majors: I feel like Accounting is the path I am supposed to take. Math has always been my strong subject. I'm not too nervous about getting a job in this field.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Transportation isn't bad for me at all, because I live in the dorms and can walk any where. For other people it still should not be bad, because there are several buses and bus stops all day everyday.

Academics: Since I'm majoring in Accounting, I'm in the McCoy Business school. I had to apply to be able to take business classes. The work load isn't much homework, but there are only a few test, so I have to study hard to do good. They have a week call "Business Week" to help you meet people, and to help you find job/internships.

Weather: The weather is usually very hot during the summer and spring, a little rainy in the fall, and the winter can get a little chilly, but it's not too bad.

Local Atmosphere: The local atmosphere is great! There is a huge outline mall, several bars, bowling, and the movies. A student should never have a boring weekend.

Drug Safety: There are plenty of people i know that do drugs, but i mean if you do not want to participate at a function, people do not really pennalize you for it. half of the time if you didn't help pay for what substance is at the function then people do not even bother to ask you to participate.

Local Atmosphere: I am an employee at the Outlet malls we have here in San Marcos, and I am well aware of the stores that we have so shopping is never a problem I love the outlets. but as far as attractions like museums and art gallories we have to travel to Austin or San Antonio for such expieriences, but i do not really mind

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
