Scholarships: The financial aid office can at times be hard to deal with. At times they lose documents already sent and can be hard to get a hold of. This is understandable to a degree with the volume of students applying.

Off-Campus Dining: there is a vast array of off-campus dining. From fast food to formal dining, San Marcos has a lot to offer. The prices are pretty good all around and are not over-priced. they are very conveniently located and most deliver.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Texas state is lenient when it comes to having social functions for the most part. Though parking and honor code are held in high regard and are not dealt with lightly

4 College Senior

Athletics: Varsity sports are on the rise at Texas State University, and have been the last couple years. The Student Recreation center is one of the best and biggest in the country, with top notch facilities and workout equipment, spoiling the students who use them.

Local Atmosphere: San Marcos is a beautiful city and has incredible scenery. The hilly landscape is very easy on the eyes and encourages the residents to go out and explore. Prior to living in San Marcos i had never gone hiking or canoeing, but that changed once i moved there. There is also the beautiful San Marcos river that runs right through campus, and is always full of students. The local restaurants provide good food at a good price, and the nightlife is as entertaining as it can get. The local atmosphere in San Marcos makes Texas State one of the best in the country

Health & Safety: Texas State's security and health are above average as well. If there is ever an occurrence, campus PD is quick to notify the entire university via the Bobcatmail service, so that students are always aware if anything bad has happened on campus. Campus PD has a strong presence all over campus, making us students feel safe and not having to worry about such things is very nice. When parties get too loud, the police are also quick to act and put a stop to it, which can be appreciated by other students that have to wake up early and have things to do.

Campus Housing: The campus housing has been very good for me. I lived on campus my freshman year at Jackson Hall and loved every minute of it. It was clean most of the time, had reliable RA's that helped the move in process be a lot smoother, and it also had the best location on campus. Housing in general on Texas State Campus is above average.

Local Atmosphere: Everyone is extremely friendly, just kind of hard to find something to do other than go to the square, the river or making a trip to Austin or San Antonio.

4 College Junior

Facilities: Facilities are improving and clean and assess-able.

Greek Life: Im not involved with greek life and I'm fine so if youre in it, its fine. If you're not it's fine.

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: I think we have a really good variety of food on our campus

Diversity: Tx State has a huge diversity of students from all ethicinities to all kinds of ages.

Campus Housing: The dorm itself just depends on what hall you live in. Most are pretty decent. The social atmosphere at Texas State is fantastic. Everyone is so friendly and easy to get along with. In the dorm I lived in, which was San Saba Hall, things such as a/c went down quite a few times and it also took a while for the work order to go through. Other than that, I enjoyed living there.

Campus Strictness: if you're willing to just follow a few rules, this campus is amazing.

Athletics: Athletics are a nice outlet here, although you can go all four years without ever going to a game, they exist. the most talked about sport would have to be rugby though.

5 College Sophomore

Nightlife: San Marcos has a booming variety of night life scenes. Most of which are extremely easy to get into.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: honestly i haven't even noticed them...

Guys & Girls: Its not boasting that this campus includes some of the best looking people in the state. No, they may not all be brilliant, but at least they've all found ways to hold their own and remain at an acceptable GPA.

Overall Experience: Over all, many if not all of the professors present are extremely happy to be there and teaching young and eager minds. As of yet I have failed to locate even one professor or course that was too difficult to work with or through without the on campus aids and tools provided in your tuition.

Overall Experience: Though this may not be the most prestigious school to recive a degree from, it is still valued. As this is a very social and amazing environment creating social networks and branching out to others is made incredibly easy. This aids in your life after college, pursuing a career.

Off-Campus Dining: They have a nice inexpensive italian resturant, a chipotle, The tavern, little places that are nice ot eat at, but the food is really not amazing.

They have a taco bell, and some other little taco places.

I LOVE THEIR kolache place, it is so awesome, and they even have a veggie sauage option for kolaches.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
