3 College Freshman

Transportation: the cost to go to austin on the bus is as low as $6. but it's more when you ride the grey hound bus.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: there is a party bus that takes you to austin. some parties cost money to enter.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: the food is good, but it is costly.

3 College Freshman

Majors: The professor that is in charge of the program i'm in, is incredible. Dr.Fluker is an amazing motivator.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I'm very happy with being part of the mass communication program. I wouldn't do it all over again because i'm with the choice i've made. My career goal is to become a camera operator for movies, and own a photography studio on the side.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Nothing really happens at Texas State.

Off-Campus Dining: I'm new, so I have a lot of new options.

Academics: Lots of options, such as the srt program and music.

Computers: If you wait long enough, you'll find a computer. Some are old and need updating.

4 Recent Alumnus

Nightlife: So far I just hang out with old friends, since I commute.

5 Recent Alumnus

Majors: A stellar program so much so that I am on a steep learning curve!

Majors: Tough as nails to get in.

3 Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: I do not participate in greek life any more.

2 Recent Alumnus

Weather: To be more specific, the commute is affected by the weather, since I commute from Austin.

3 Recent Alumnus

Diversity: Lots of hispanics, which makes me feel a bit more comfortable.

2 Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: The police seem bored, and are looking for any excuse to pule people over. I was going 3 mph one time when I started getting tailed.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I am very pleased with my program. It offers all the courses and class needed. I have been fortunate to have great professors, which contribute to my learning and outside knowledge. I would do it all over again if I could, but I would double major in biology and mathematics. When I graduate from college, I plan to attend dental school. When I graduate from dental school I want to work for a dentist and one day open up my own practice. The competitiveness of the Dental field would be my only concerns.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I think the biology program is great although it is very difficult. The science courses are very work intensive, but with the right amount of effort put into the course will prove to be beneficial. I am in great favor with the supplemental instruction that is offered and the labs that we have to take along with the science course because it reinforces what we learned in class.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: I am not one to "party" but I do enjoy going out at night and having fun without alcohol or any other substances.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: My situation is a bit confusing, but I did end up receiving my aid. Since my step-father is the one who claims me, while my mother was unemployed, I had to fill out an abundant amount of extra papers. When submitting my papers there were more that I had to fill out and the process took forever. It would have ran more smoothly if I received all the documentation needed at one time rather than in parts.

Transportation: There are many shuttle buses that are accessible to students and they run quite frequently.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: There are many fraternities and sororities, but they are predominantly white if not all white. It is a little more rare to see a diverse sorority out on campus.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The campus is beautiful and it offers a lot of amenities, but during orientation the phrase of a "tobacco free campus" did not hold true whatsoever. Surprisingly there are many professors that are strict with attendance, but the overall strictness of the campus is okay.

3 College Freshman

Academics: The parking around campus is horrible. Most of the time its hard to find a parking space the later it gets.

Campus Housing: There is always something to do and get involved with on campus! Everyday there are people in the quad trying to sell food or talk about an event that they're having.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
