4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Love how everything is close to campus if it is not on campus

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Their are always something going on so there is no need to be bored.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Sports would have more fans if they advertised about it more.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Transportation is always on time

3 College Freshman

Athletics: I am personally not a big sports fan, so I cannot really tell about varsity sporting evens. The one thin that is always talked about are intramural sports, and those are really talked about, fun, friendly activities.

4 College Freshman

Computers: It is very noticeable that the school has been remodeling and modernizing in many ways. Technology is one of the main sections with on-going updates, so in terms of technology the school is well equipped. In terms of availability, there are many computer labs, if the library is not your favorite place. Also the writing enter has computers available where students can work or use at any time with anything.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: This answer I believe has a lot to do with the place where different residents have stayed. Of course there are newer dorms that have nicer facilities or commodities, but over all the atmosphere in any residential hall that I have visited has been very friendly.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: There is always something going on, and if it seems like the place where you are at is not for you... Night swims at the river always are a good idea.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I guess that since this rating is coming from someone who is very careful with relationships, my review can be a little bit biased, but there are really nice guys and girls here. Just like everywhere else you may also coma across some careless people, but there are definitely great opportunities to meet awesome people.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Most of the places around campus are over priced but if you go to the apartments down Aquarena they're all extremely competitive in pricing and have a range of different qualities.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: San Marcos, like any area with a lot of people, has a few crimes but there almost always off campus. It's always safe on campus and the student health center is in a pretty good spot and has everything you need.

3 College Freshman

Weather: If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait five minutes.

Overall Experience: I can't imagine going to college anywhere else. San Marcos is the perfect place to be to experience college at its fullest.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It depends on where you are, some of the dorms are fantastic and some are run down and old. The thing that makes the dorms great here aren't the buildings, but the people in them.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I'm Theatre P&P and it's great, I just wish the school had an RTF department.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: The campus is very diverse and everyone is tolerant and respectful of each others opinions for the most part.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: San Marcos is a great place to live, there's loads to do and everyone on and off campus is friendly.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There's always new foods and places to try, and it's all pretty well priced.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: The sporting events are fun to go to and tailgate but it's not a huge deal.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Not a lot of options other than campus shuttle, but it isn't hard to get around.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: i think the university does a great job on security, there are phones along the sidewalk for escort along the night. i feel safe walking alone during the day, i have never had to walk alone across campus at night.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: there is a great variety of personalities all over campus. in my department everybody seems friendly and easy to talk to.

College Senior

Scholarships: i did not apply for financial aid.

5 College Senior

Weather: texas weather is unpredictable. there have been several times when school has been cancelled and the university does a great job on announcing school closure because of weather forecasts.

3 College Senior

Majors: just keep up your GPA

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
