Guys & Girls: Everyone Is Nice – There aren't really cliques as there are in high school. Most people are generally nice to everyone and are cool to hangout with. There are plenty of cute guys and girls both

Weather: San Marcos almost always has nice sunny weather. It is a great place to enjoy the river or party at a pool.

Transportation: The tram is very useful and I pretty much use it every day. However during the busy parts of the day like 5p.m. it can be very packed.

Campus Housing: I really enjoy the new restaurant Chimeys. It is a great place to go before going out to the square.

Campus Dining: LBJ Center – A nice variety of mediocre cafeteria food. I give it a b+ because they have a Chick-Fil-A and Starbucks.

Nightlife: The nightlife is typical of a university located in a small town-house parties and local bars are very popular amongst college students

4 College Junior

Athletics: The university contains a wide range of athletic opportunities. The school has a wide variety of athletic sports that promote athleticism in addition to school spirit

3 College Junior

Diversity: The university is composed of a wide range of ethnic backgrounds, but with the opportunity to be more culturally diverse.

Overall Experience: Texas state is the best school. I have loved every minute of this place. I would make the choice over again to come here. I hear it every time, "the party" school but thats not true. This is a great place you just have to keep your priorties intact.

Campus Strictness: School Policies Affecting Social Lives – Recently our school wrote an article adressing an issue of drinking on our private property that is near school property. They prohibit private owners from legal age drinking in there frat houses or just houses for that matter. They allow drinking alone but not in groups even if it is not affiliated with an organization.

Greek Life: The greek life on campus is great. They are friendly to all students it is not necessary to be a part to be welcome. Although most of the frats are more welcoming to women. If you know at least know one person pretty well you will be accepted by most of them.

Facilities: You Don't Need a Car – Its my second semester and I still don't have a car, and don't miss having a car. If you live on campus or near campus which is like 'Aqaurena Springs Drive'...you will never need a car unless its a Saturday or Sunday in which cases the school buses don't operate. But even in that case, make a few friends who have cars! Or get a cab.

Weather: Its a Joke – The weather in San Marcos is like Texas weather. If you haven't ever been to Texas, I'll give you a recent example. Last night there was awesome wind, it was cool and nice. I went on a walk with a few friends. I wore nothing special just jeans and a jacket but in the morning when I woke up, the sun was out and it was HOT! from a low of 40F to 80F. How random! That's what Texas weather is RANDOM!

Guys & Girls: A Lot of Different Birds on Campus – Oddly there are all kinds of different people attending Texas State. In my free time, I love just sitting next to a tree on the Quad, just watching the crowd. Its so interesting. There are jocks, the frat boys and girls and also since our campus is filled with small hills and steep roads, students likes to bike around campus and you'll see a lot of skate boarders and long boarders. The girls are very friendly if you just go up to them and talk. Its good!

Local Atmosphere: San Marcos Community – The community of san marcos is pretty friendly to college students after all it is a college town there isnt a ton of crazy fun things to do in the actual town but san antonio and austin are sooo close so if you need alot to keep you busy its there but if you like to relax and enjoy the out doors san marcos is a great place to do that. the river is right there and sewell park is the center of alot of action! over all the community and the students get along and it makes for a great time for both

Health & Safety: Pretty Safe – I am not on campus very often, but I usually feel safe when I am. I may not feel comfortable in a parking garage alone at night and on other parts of campus at night only because of the few e-mails I have received about assults on campus.

Academics: Mass Comm and Journalism Majors – The opportunities are so abundant for students at the school of mass comm and journalism. It's all about networking, and there are plenty of chances to do that here! The courses are fun if its your passion! It's a lot of work, but it's totally worth it. There are also plenty of resources if you're having trouble in any of your classes.

Facilities: The facilities at texas state are really convenient and are all over campus! Tt's great that there are alot of computer labs around campus not just in Alkek library. A lot of the action happens in the quad. There are always a ton of people walking from class, to class, and alot of student organizations and vendors are in the quad daily. It's a really cool college town.

Scholarships: Finanical Aid – I have had to call financial aid several times over the past two semesters and they help out a lot. It is stressful usually when dealing with them, but they do what they can!

Drug Safety: Drug and Alcohol – I am not entirely sure about the drug scene....a lot of people smoke weed, more than people think. But that is usually disclosed information...but here we are known as the party college, "If we lose, we still get to booze".

3 College Freshman

Athletics: School Spirit – I think we are striving to have more school spirit like major universities...but since we are not that known yet, we don't have much school spirit. Basketball games, baseball games, football games aren't the talk of the day or night to go to...and not a lot of people go-or wear their maroon and white or gold...also we don't have that much of variety when it comes to decals for cars like other universities. I think if we get more known we can excel in our school spirit that we are lacking. WE TRY...its close but no cigar!

Overall Experience: I'm a 33 year old mother of two, and a senior at Texas State University. You'd think that I would stick out like a sore thumb, but nothing could be further from the truth! This school is so diverse in every way that there probably isn't anyone that wouldn't feel like they were part of the Bobcat family.

Campus Strictness: Greek Life – The school is very strict on greek life, hazing etc. They have a no tolerance policy for anything that isn't just purely the greek life giving back to the community.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
