3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It's descent. It's close to all of my classes so I don't have to wake up as early, but the space isn't that great.

College Freshman

Campus Housing: I have never lived in the dorms on campus. I live off campus in apartments.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great for being a freshman. The dorms are close to classroom buildings and places like the MSC Evans Library, and on-campus dining are not far away at all. The housing process was nice too because you could choose your top 3 halls and you were able to find a roommate who has similar interests and tendencies that you have (my roommate and I are now really good friends through that). The amenities are sufficient and I know that it will make me appreciate living in my own house or apartment in years to come so much more.

College Sophomore

Campus Housing: it looks nice, i dont live on campus though.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Living on campus has one perk that puts it above the rest, proximity to class and school. Any modular style dorm will provide the best experience like: Hobby, Neeley, Wells, Hass, Clements etc. DO NOT LIVE IN HULLABALOO HALL, the new dorm looks fancy, but is way overpriced for what it really is, a paper thin fragile dry wall throw together. You can hear others in their rooms and that walls chip themselves. Hobby Hall is where I lived, its a soundproof bunker that offers the very best in utility. You can make it look as good as you want, while knowing it wont fall apart on ya.

Sure, the dorm rooms are a bit small and have to be shared with a roommate, but there are so many conveniences of living on campus. Most dorms at A&M are pretty old, but there are many to choose from, including everything from suites to singles to coed and same-sex dorms, in every style and price range. It’s recommended that A&M students live on campus their first year to help them meet people and feel more like a part of the University. Most students do this and seem to be very happy with that decision. Plus, most residence halls have free washers, study rooms, and a kitchen on one of the floors.

A&M is divided into two parts: Northside and Southside. Residents on each side will tell you their side is the best. The dorms on Northside are generally cheaper, and the Northside dwellers, in general, are a close-knit, anti-frat, anti-Corps group. Southside is home to the Corps dorms and the Commons (Aston, Dunn, Krueger, and Mosher), which houses a lot of sorority girls. You’ll just have to take a guess about which side you think you’d like best because they really are very different. Some students room with friends from high school, but others prefer to go “potluck,” or have a roommate randomly assigned to them, which is the most common way of getting a roommate. There are benefits to both, but many people say that rooming with high school friends will ruin your friendship, and more often than not, it’s true. And, remember, this is college, so don't be scared to try something new—nearly everyone else will be in the same boat with you.

Did You Know?
