There is always something to do at night in the area around TSU. There are two seasons in Nashville's social scene: football season and college season. Local clubs and bars love to cater to either or both seasons, and nearly every advertisement you hear is mentioning them. Most of the shops in the area close early; however, the clubs and bars are always open until at least 1 a.m. There are a ton of clubs on 2nd Avenue, Broadway, and several places in between, and each club has its own theme, which makes each one popular and unique. Hurricanes and Club Platinum are both very popular among college students across the city, and they are the ones you hear the most from on the radio. Nashville is definitely a drinking town, and the residents and students are not shy about admitting it!
If you don't drink, there are still lots of things to do. There are several little local theaters that have performances; there is the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Centennial Park, the Hollywood 27 movie theater, and during the day there are several little shops downtown to browse through. Most of the time the parties are right off of campus or downtown somewhere, and they usually run late into the morning hours. The NPD is always present around campus, and they are not too strict about parties or noise levels as long as they are kept within reason. In short, if you use your common sense about which parties to go to, you will be safe and have a good time. The best advice is to talk with your friends, and don't go to a party if you have a bad feeling about it; in these cases it is best to find something else to do.
