2 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Our school is in the middle of a debatable area. It's not really bad & not much happens on our campus yet, they try to link a lot of things that do happen in the area just based on the close proximity to our school.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Like many colleges in the south, this school scenery is pretty regular.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: The attractions vary because it is a music town, but there are other schools to interact with. On top of the schools, there is always something going on on campus and at some sort of club or party. The students are very active. The local areas are decent but there isn't anything out nearby. But if you go downtown or on the popular streets, everything is there.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: If you are formally from Nashville, including myself, then most locals would not say there is any amusing activities for people to do. Although my friends from out of state say its not so bad that everyone makes it out to be.

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: I don't hang out much, so I can't really give an honest opinion

In Nashville, there is always something to do for fun; the key is to know where to look and to choose the right company to be with. The campus itself is very friendly; however, the surrounding area can be somewhat unsafe at times. The surrounding area is lower-class intercity, as TSU is located on the outskirts of downtown Nashville. It is five minutes away from West End and Charlotte avenues, which will carry you to the hottest clubs, restaurants, and shopping areas. The citizens of Nashville are either very friendly or very unfriendly; there is no in between. One day, you may have several smiling faces, and the next, not one person will look your way. The weather is much of the reason for these extremes, since it affects everything from traffic to people’s moods. Nashville is a great place for music lovers. There are a number of jazz clubs, dance clubs, gentlemen’s and ladies’ clubs, and places for concerts. The Starwood Amphitheatre holds a concert nearly every week, and the biggest and most mainstream artists play here because it is a large venue with plenty of seating. However, it is literally all the way across town from TSU. Other places artists perform in are 328 Performance Hall and, for country music lovers, the Grand Ole Opry. There are a number of clubs and bars located in downtown Nashville, and if that’s not your thing, there are also a number of interesting shops for souvenirs and other items you won’t find in a Wal-Mart. Overall, the people in Nashville are great to socialize with, and despite the South’s reputation, we are certainly not all hicks.
