Campus Housing: I do not live on campus. From what I hear, it's not terrible and is within close proximity to class buildings.

Campus Strictness: I don't live on campus, so I am really unsure about many of the topics. But, majority of students are of legal drinking age, and there is usually alcohol available at school functions. Attendance, however, is very strict when it comes to experiential classes - if you are late twice or miss two classes, you automatically fail. It is imperative that you are present.

Computers: I do not normally utilize the campus computers, as I bring my laptop or iPad to use for classes. However, there are a high number of computers available for student use at all hours of the day. The library is stocked with iMac's and you can load money on your ID card to pay for printing, meals, etc.

Weather: You will get all four seasons in NYC. Summers are HOT when using the subway system, and the winter's can be brutal if you are not used to an abundance of snow. If you are prepared for the weather changes, you will be just fine.

Local Atmosphere: There is nothing like living in NYC. The variety of opportunities are endless - food (you will never eat at a chain restaurant again!), fun, locals, museums, etc. - whatever you want, you can have. Also, with you Columbia ID, entrance to all museums is free (except the Guggenheim) - among other student offers from the City.

Parking: In NYC, if you are trying to drive to school, you are doing yourself a disservice. The public transportation system is more than efficient, and affordable. I have lived here (NJ) for 6 months (and yes, I have my car) and have only driven a handful of times - mostly to pick up visitors from the airport.

Diversity: Teachers College pride's itself on its high level of diversity among the student body. Their commitment to diversity is also extended to their Professors, which enriches the overall learning experience, especially in a program where the resulting career requires one to interact regularly with diverse populations.

Parking: Average to good for Manhattan

Off-Campus Housing: Very expensive, lots of work to obtain a new lease

Greek Life: I don't know anything about our Greek life

5 College Senior

Majors: I don't plan to have an internship for now because I'm working part-time in something related to my field.

Majors: I really like my program. It's not about long papers for my professors, but about concise, thoughtful papers. My professors are very open to students and try to create a community of learners atmosphere. I think that's particular to my program though. The workload is hard for some, but it seems to me normal. Their career services is EXCELLENT, though it's hard to get an appointment with them quickly.

Local Atmosphere: People are used to rushing

4 College Senior

Parking: For NYC, not bad at all.

4 College Junior

Weather: It is the northeast so the weather tends to be a little unpredictable. The winters are cold, summers hot and humid. But the beautiful days are truly beautiful.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: it's pretty much safe I have nothing to worry about.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: It's okay. I really depends on who you hang out with.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: The computer labs are often occupied by many students. However, when you get your hands on one you can pretty much stay there all you want.

4 College Senior

Weather: No matter what the weather is, Teachers College is always on top of making sure that students are able to have a clean and safe environment.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: Living on campus is very convenient. However, it is extremely expensive.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I find there are clear regulations and supervision of rules.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: It would be nice to have a shuttle to Harlem areas that are more difficult to access via public transportation than walking.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: The campus itself is safe, but the nearby area outside of campus is not very safe to walk around alone at night. Stay in groups!

4 College Senior

Campus Dining: Very delicious and healthy salads. Always have soup options. Pizza is decent.

4 College Senior

Nightlife: Not enough places nearby, but accessible with the train.
