5 College Junior

Majors: I had no problem getting into the program that I wanted even though there was plenty of help for me if I needed it.

Majors: I love my program, the people in it are easy going and helpful. I don't feel overworked or completely stressed out over the amount of work yet I still get enough to keep me busy.

Campus Dining: The food is the same all over campus, its a matter of if you prefer small dining halls to larger ones. The food is the same almost every week following a menu for each day with slight variances day by day. Many students will eat and grab something for later so not to waste another meal swipe just for a snack.

Athletics: Syracuse has the most fan support/ school spirit I have seen for college teams. It seems like everyone gets involved for the students to professors and even the work staff on campus show their support. You can tell Syracuse is big into health for all students not just the athletes by the amount and upkeep of the fitness centers all around campus.

Local Atmosphere: Most students going off campus either go to the mall or downtown to eat but the city has many other things to offer. Parks and after school programs that allow for volunteer work, restaurants, nightclubs, art displays and exhibits are all available to the students and are within easy transport to the campus.

Campus Strictness: The school has a strict policy for underage drinking/ drug use and for any kind of plagiarizing. I have not found fault with any of their policies since I know things have happened in the past where people were hurt and that these rules are in place to protect the students.

Academics: The options of classes to choose from are great and lets everyone experience either exactly what they were looking for to something they never even thought of. I haven't really had that many bad professors either. I have my favorites in certain areas but on a whole I would say that the professors work hard and really care about their students.

4 College Junior

Academics: The professors in my field and so helpful and are really willing to work with me. I haven't had the opportunity to look into internships or jobs for after college yet but I know my advisers will be helpful and do what they can for me.

Diversity: Most students are from white upper class republican families. It isn't always easy to spot someone who comes for middle or lower class and I don't think that is such a big deal on the campus. Regarding religion and sexual orientation, the majority of the campus is accepting and willing to help make a change in how other people look at them.

Health & Safety: Given our location crime occurs quite often. It is scary at times but you always see DPS or city police around which helps make the place feel safer.

3 College Junior

Nightlife: Most parties are all the same no matter where they are. Most people host them off campus in the surrounding neighborhood streets so its easy access from main campus. I don't think you can go to Syracuse and not go out to a party at least once.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Most of the students are welcoming and friendly, its only when you run into Greek students or certain groups such as drama or art that the people dress the same and act the same. Many students are into either sports or theater and both get a good showing when an event is held.

Campus Housing: The dorms all have something to offer whether it is a dining hall, closeness to classes, style and room types. The housing lottery runs pretty smoothly. Freshman dorms have a more social atmosphere than upperclassman but I liked that since it gave me more privacy as well as a quiet place to sleep and study.

Greek Life: Greek life is a big deal on campus where a lot of people join but you don't need to be in a fraternity or sorority to enjoy what the college has to offer. Non-Greeks typically find Greek students rude, egotistical and annoying but they get along when need be. Plenty of housing for greek students in various houses( some are rundown while others are pristine).

College Sophomore

Diversity: The diversity is amazing and you get to meet people from all over the world which is amazing

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: The city itself sets it apart. The history is intriguing and if you learn more about it you learn to appreciate it more

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: You have to involve yourself to really experience it

Academics: It great and the read here are willing to stay and help you understand anything you don't

4 College Sophomore

Academics: It can be challenging at times but if you hassle the staff you can get things done

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: If your willing to spend extra then it's an on in investment

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: It's ok. Sometimes it's not open when you want it to be but there is always kimmel

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: It's a great way to save money and the city around is pretty safe for the most part

5 College Sophomore

SU has a laundry list of good qualities about it and very few flaws. The main thing to remember is that SU and its students refuse to be pigeonholed. There are so many varying interests at Syracuse University, as well as a broad array of extracurricular activities. People can't even agree on what major is the most prestigious (although many claim communications or architecture). Still, although there is a broad range of people at SU, there usually is a consensus on one thing: people at Syracuse University really like it. Sure, there are different reasons, but almost everyone who spends a few years at SU enjoys it.

Some like the choices in classes, while others like the prominent sports teams on campus. Some like the appeal of a real college campus in the middle of a big city. No one comes for the weather. And besides the few reasons a student will specifically seek out Syracuse University, there are a broad number of factors that keep students here. The on-campus and off-campus housing is excellent, the computer facilities are top-notch, and the nightlife can be a major draw. Also, students generally have a lot of genuinely interesting events going on around campus. Whatever the reason, students who come to SU tend to stay here.
