Scholarships: Swarthmore is very generous and it fulfills 100% of my need. I am very satisfied with and grateful for my financial aid package. Plus, I never have to spend much time on the financial aid application process, which is incredibly simple. I love the FA office staff too!!

Scholarships: I received an excellent amount of financial aid, given my circumstances. I was, however, disappointed that the move towards no loans occurred during my senior year. Therefore, I only received that benefit for two semesters. Today, Swarthmore does not include loans in aid packages, which means less debt for students. There are merit-based scholarships available, too, but I did not receive any.

Scholarships: Though I applied for financial aid, I did not receive any, though I would have greatly benefited from it. Swarthmore does provide a large amount of financial aid to many students, but I was unfortunate in that I did not receive any because Swarthmore/FAFSA decided my parents' income was sufficient (though it has been really difficult for them to pay for the past four years). I'm not sure whether this is an issue with Swarthmore, or the FAFSA program, but there should be more consideration into where the income is being distributed, rather than thinking they'll be able to fund the tuition and that the money isn't being placed into insurance, mortgage, etc. In any event, I know Swarthmore provides a large sum of financial aid to many students and that it is consistently ranked one of the top schools for financial assistance.

Scholarships: I spoke to the financial aid office on multiple occasions and was given information that turned out to be false. Had the financial aid officers been honest from the start, I likely would not have attended Swarthmore. As a result of my experiences with them, I have over $150,000 of student loan debt, some of which is through private lenders with interest rates above 10%. The financial aid officers did not provide me with adequate information about Swarthmore's financial aid process or about student loans in general.

Scholarships: Decent, but Not Perfect – There are next to no merit-based scholarships, but the financial aid process is pretty good (rated the best in the nation). My freshman year, my award was amazing, and the best out of 9 other expensive, 50K+ a year schools. But I received my Sophomore award letter and it was not nearly as good. Not sure if this was intentional, but it was a bit of a shock.
