Athletics: There is not as much school spirits as I thought there would be. The sporting events are still fun to attend. Alumni gym is a good gym facility but it is quite a far walk from the dorms. I joined the UB fit club which was great and close to the dorms.

Health & Safety: The safety and security is very good around campus. People just have to be smart about not leaving valuable items unattended because thefts are probably the most apparent crime. I always feel safe on campus.

Campus Strictness: The strictness all depends on which professor or which police officer yup run into. I wish they were less strict about drinking in the dorms but most people go off campus to drink anyways. If your 21 you are allowed to drink in your room.

Academics: I am an occupational therapy major and I am so happy with my decision to attend ub. It is a heavy workload but the classes are great.

Academics: I love the classes and curriculum at ub. I transferred from a private school and I feel that the quality of education is much better at this SUNY school. Some of your gen ed classes will be very large but I enjoyed them and just sat towards the front. The registration process can be difficult because there are so many students and you may not get the class you were hoping for.

Facilities: I loved living on campus. There is always something to do, plus is it a beautiful campus in the summer.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: I love how diverse UB is. You cannot describe guys and girls because everyone is different and you will find someone that you can relate to. You never have to worry about feeling out of place.

Off-Campus Housing: There are college villas that are very close to the school and they are extremely nice with amenities such as a swimming pool, gym, and sauna. However these are pretty expensive and come out to be the same amount as dorming would be. If you are looking to save money you can rent apartments near the south campus, just make sure they are in a safe area.

Academics: To be a pharmacy major at UB is the best because it is one of the top pharmacy colleges in the U.S. That is why I wanted to go here because that is what UB is known for in the pharmacy world. I love their updated pharmacy department and they have some pretty modern facilities for it. I can't wait to get into the professional program there. As for internship opportunities I'm not sure if there are many for my major but definitely for business majors, and there are many job opportunities but I had trouble finding one right for me on campus.

Academics: They have a lot of options at UB for any major you want. However, there are many professors that aren't the best for gen ed classes, and TA's can be some trouble too.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I did not get any financial aid besides loans because of our income.

Athletics: There seems to be a lot of school spirit but people don't love the football teams as much as other colleges. The Richmond gym for average students and not athletes sometimes has treadmills out of order and I wish Alumni wasn't so crowded.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a good number of places to eat off campus but I haven't been able to try many because I didn't have a car on campus. A lot of the places are chain restaurants but still some variety.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: There is so much diversity at UB from ethnic backgrounds to religious affiliation and so on. It's great to be able to find the right people for you.

College Sophomore

Health & Safety: My opinion is not that valid because I have not witnessed any crime or sexual assault thus far in Buffalo

2 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: In my dorm hall there would always be drinking and drug use, and my RA would also be doing it. The noise was horrible too.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: It's better than ok but not great. Some facilities are somewhat old while others are new and really nice. For example, the science department at NSC on north campus is too old but on south their pharmacy department is lovely.

Local Atmosphere: Buffalo is really nice when the weather is warm and sunny, there's a cool breeze because it's near the lake and the view is really nice. However it's gloomy when it rains and too much slush when it snows. The wind can be overwhelming but I could possibly see myself living there if I get a job.

College Sophomore

Nightlife: I have not gone to any bars off campus and do not drink

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I am not in a Greek society currently but from the looks of it, it seems to be okay. However there must have been a rush week when fraternities made freshman pull fire alarms almost every night around 3am!

Athletics: Big school, a lot of people into sports, others are not

From the overwhelmingly diverse campus culture to the odd architecture, UB takes some getting used to. But nearly all students say they've gotten a lot out of their four (or five, or six) years here, and many simply love the place. There are some institutional problems that get people down: administrative hassles, bland campus food, and rotten parking. The decentralized campus can lead to a diminished feeling of community. And the weather is a challenge to the spirit. But UB's modern facilities and world-class computer network get high marks, and most UB students grow to appreciate the great academics, the friendly people, and Buffalo's high quality of life.

UB has a great college experience waiting, but instead of gently offering it to you, it challenges you to "come and get it." If you're not intimidated by the diversity and the sprawling campus and if you get involved, you'll have an eclectic and inspirational experience. Students say UB is no utopia, but it's a lot of fun. And when it's over, nearly everyone remembers it fondly.
