College Student

Campus Housing: I heard its good but who knows

4 College Student

Academics: Chemical engineering is really good in BU.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Housing: I have some knowledge about Buffalo City

College Student

Nightlife: I didn't attend the University at Buffalo yet. But I am going to, since I made my deposit. Hope everything is good.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: The location of the campus makes it difficult to fully experience everything Buffalo has to offer.

2 College Freshman

Transportation: The bus and shuttle schedule is unevenly run. Buses regularly take students from one set of dorms to major points. However, at my set of the dorms which is an equally long distance from certain parts of the academic buildings, buses seldom come on time, and not nearly as often as other buses used for dorms.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: A wide variety of athletics are available and are satisfactory for almost all involved.

2 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The school is surprisingly outdated in the dorms whereas the school and academic buildings are all well maintained. The dorms however are old, the walls bow in and out, the walls are paper thin, paint is chipping from the walls and doors, the floors are in poor torn up condition, cleanliness with the cleaning staff is not satisfactoy in any way shape or form. The bathrooms have the same dirt and spots that have been there for a week or greater. Things spilled in the stairs and walkways in the dorms have not been cleaned in over 3 weeks.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: The options are all pretty solid, it's however mildly difficult to get onto the campus quickly without a bicycle or vehicle.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The usage of drugs and alcohol is well monitored. Many of the students partaking are relatively stealthy and the enforcement

of any sort of issues is always handled promptly.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I love my program, it has exactly what I thought it would and it also has a large amount of classes which interest me.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I encountered no problems, I was accepted right off that bat into the program.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Generally, the whole campus is windy when there's any variety of inclement weather. This includes the creation of wind tunnels where wind easily doubles in speed through major academic points.

3 College Freshman

Academics: Some programs due to large amounts of students have caused difficulty and obtaining and successfully enrolling in classes which are needed.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There's a bunch of mom and pop shops which offer many different varieties of food. The staple chains are all nearby, but the true quality and pallet is seen in the small restaurants.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: I love my university due to the fact that it has an expansive amount of options for things to do. There's both academic and recreational options for almost anything the mind can imagine.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: UB Police and the RA's are very strict about drug use.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: the computers at the university at buffalo are relatively average. once a while they catch a virus and slow down entirely but usually they are good.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: A nightlife at the University at Buffalo isn't limited to the weekends. Any day of the week you will see students getting on the stampede late at night on their way to South Campus. South Campus has frat parties and night clubs.

College Freshman

Computers: I have my own computer, haven't used the labs and don't intend to. I need to access internet a LOT and work in my dorm room.

2 College Freshman

Transportation: Mainly, students need to rely on others that have cars on campus.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: High diversity but a lot of negativity of foreign students toward American students. Unfortunate that they keep to themselves and the majority prefer not to associate.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It's Western New York. It's COLD and SNOWY in the winter and the campus is very windy.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The room selection for current students is difficult and frustrating.

2 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: The location is in a suburban area where the majority of activities in close proximity are only shopping and dining.

From the overwhelmingly diverse campus culture to the odd architecture, UB takes some getting used to. But nearly all students say they've gotten a lot out of their four (or five, or six) years here, and many simply love the place. There are some institutional problems that get people down: administrative hassles, bland campus food, and rotten parking. The decentralized campus can lead to a diminished feeling of community. And the weather is a challenge to the spirit. But UB's modern facilities and world-class computer network get high marks, and most UB students grow to appreciate the great academics, the friendly people, and Buffalo's high quality of life.

UB has a great college experience waiting, but instead of gently offering it to you, it challenges you to "come and get it." If you're not intimidated by the diversity and the sprawling campus and if you get involved, you'll have an eclectic and inspirational experience. Students say UB is no utopia, but it's a lot of fun. And when it's over, nearly everyone remembers it fondly.
