Drug Safety: I commute, but I don't know anyone using

College Junior

Drug Safety: The one time i actually saw and smelled drugs was during the fall semester walking near the dorms. Students were smoking weed.

4 College Senior

Drug Safety: I have not seen of heard of any students using drugs on campus. I have witness a few students drinking alcohol, but they were of age.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: There are a lot of party opportunities. Frat and Sorority houses are located off campus. Not everyone drinks, you can find a lot of people who do not.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Police are pretty strict about smoking weed, and aren't afraid to arrest someone. peer pressure isn't an issue usually. people understand if you don't want to drink and will not force you too.

On Thursday nights inside the dorms, it’s pretty much a given that there will be drinking, and maybe even smoking. Most of the newer buildings have advanced smoke alarms that can tell if someone is covering them in any way. If someone tries to prevent the alarms from detecting any smoking going on in a room, it will go off. However, in most of the older buildings (e.g. Roosevelt), you can pretty much get away with whatever you want—alarm covered or not. Catching a whiff of marijuana is definitely not uncommon during any day of the week. Spend just a little time inside the residence halls, and most people know about it.

It is generally alcohol and marijuana that students use, but there are cases of harder drugs, including LSD, mushrooms, cocaine, and ecstasy. That’s not to say that there is any kind of pressure to indulge. Students do what they like, and drugs can easily be avoided. However, it is a pretty common sight to witness drunken stupidity at all hours of the night. Don’t let the noise get out of hand, or you will find a very pissed RA or University Police officer banging at your door, and the consequences can be harsh. Community service is no fun when there are finals to study for. As it turns out, caffeine is probably the most widely-used drug on campus, and Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts are very popular places around finals week, or any day of any week.
