Campus Dining: Campus dining is absolutely abysmal. The meal plan is nothing but a rip-off. It is essentially a debit account that you have to pay into for to get ludicrously over-priced food and never get your money back from. Dining is minimal for late night and the options are even worse at those times. The workers are often surly and the whole system essentially encourages stealing of food. Most students have stolen food in some way as far as I can tell.

3 College Student

Campus Dining: Not terrible. Definitely better than most SUNY schools.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: There needs to be more CHEAPER HEALTHY options. The crap deep fried food is half the price of healthy options. My meal plan always runs out before the last month! Best bet is to but some food off campus.

Campus Dining: Dining halls are really accessible, and all of the ones I have been to have variety. There's usually a fast food option, a sushi bar, a salad bar, Chinese food, pizza, soups and a station that has different options depending on the day of the week. I live in a cooking building, so I try to make my own meals as much as I can. From what I've experienced and heard from other students, the options seem narrow as you eat there more often.

2 College Senior

Campus Dining: Awful service and no healthy food options.

Stony Brook University has an abundance of eateries, which can range from very poor to very tasty. The deli on campus serves Boar’s Head brand meats and makes the sandwiches in front of you. At the grill, you can get a cheeseburger, Philly cheesesteaks, fried chicken sandwiches, you name it. There are kosher and vegetarian options in select places, such as the Delancey Street Deli. Veggie burgers and salads are available in most of the dining facilities.

The largest dining hall is in the Student Activities Center and can accommodate any appetite. Options there include fresh pizza made in a brick oven, sushi, Au Bon Pain soups, and more. It can get crowded during peak hours, but you can navigate through it quickly if in a rush. The Wang Center features the Jasmine Food Court, which has authentic chefs straight out of New York City who make sushi and other Asian dishes. If you’re in the mood to be served, Wolfie’s Restaurant is the closest place you can go to on campus. It serves pretty much anything you could want. Roth Dining Center includes a Wendy’s and Tabler Café with a Dunkin Donuts. There is also a Starbucks in the Union.
