Facts & Statistics

Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Don't be afraid to question anything-it is the only way to get around.
  • Don't be afraid to visit the Ombudsman. She's very nice and very knowledgeable.
  • Don't believe the counseling center.
  • Don't expect help from anyone before you've helped yourself.
  • Don't expect to get an A for hard work.
  • Get into internships as soon as possible.
  • Get involved-in anything-it is the only true way to participate in a full college experience.
  • Just because you're invited to a party, it doesn't mean you have to go. Yeah, they're fun, but partying five nights a week and gaining 20 pounds doesn't seem like a good time, and ending up with a horrible GPA definitely isn't worth it.
  • Pay the stupid meter-change now can save you hundreds in fines when you attempt to finalize your graduation.
  • Use ratemyprofessor.com to look up a professor before registering for a class
  • Use Stonybrooksucks.com to find out which classes and professors to go for, and which to avoid.
