4 College Freshman

Transportation: Blue route runs every 20 minutes around campus and there's a bus that runs throughout town frequently on a schedule. Transportation to the Regional Transportation Center is a little more difficult but not too much. Always buses.

Many students bring their cars to college, including freshmen. SUNY Oswego is one of the few colleges to allow freshmen to bring their cars. There is the Green Route Centro express shuttle bus that continuously makes the loop from the athletic complex to Sheldon Hall and then to the Campus Center. This bus is helpful for students who have classes at Laker Hall as well as commuter students that must park in the Romney lots across from main campus. This shuttle, as well as the Oswego public transportation system and the Syracuse Centro buses, are all free for students (bus stickers in the past used to cost SUNY Oswego students $20).

The best way to get to Walmart, Price Chopper, or the movie theater is to take the Centro buses, which stops at the Campus Center. You can also call a taxi, but it will cost between $6 and $8, depending on the number of people. Students with their license can rent a Zipcar to run daily errands, but these can get very expensive. The College is pretty far from Bridge Street where you will find cafés, bars, and restaurants, and even farther for grocery shopping. Having a car is convenient, but you don’t need one. The bus system is usually very reliable.
