4 College Sophomore

Weather: When it's sunny and warm, it's beautiful and enjoyable. Everyone is outside. Even when it's cold and rainy, there is always a way to enjoy the day.

5 College Senior

Weather: I love the cold an snow, so a longer winter doesn't bother me. As soon as it breaks 50 degrees everyone is hanging out outside. New Paltz as a town and campus is very focused on the outdoors. I have taken a few classes that allow us to go up to the mountains and the streams nearby. That's a unique and awesome experience.

3 College Freshman

Weather: summer is beautiful winter sucks

4 College Sophomore

Weather: Spring and Fall are warm and comfortable. Winter is like any other New England winter. This year we got a lot of snow.

3 College Freshman

Weather: There is the occasional snow storm that cancels school. It does get really cold at times over the winter season.

New Paltz experiences typical Northeastern weather and climate. The upside of this is that one can truly experience the four seasons in all their glory; the downside is that sometimes there are some unbearably cold winter days. The three (sometimes four) winter months at NP are bleak, gray, and frigid.

However, the depressing winter is made up for with the awesomeness of spring, summer, and fall in the Hudson Valley. Spring and summer days are long, temperate, and bursting with life, and autumn is unparalleled in terms of beauty, evidenced by the annual pilgrimage of "leaf-peepers" at nearby Minnewaska State Park.

Did You Know?
University-wide snow days do happen, though not often. Individual professors usually cancel classes themselves if inclement weather stands in the way of classroom attendance.
