I lived in The Meadows for my senior year, and it was all right. I didn't have much to complain about except for the distance from campus. Other apartments are closer, but they cost more. The houses converted into apartments are all right, but not the best, though I think that mainly depends on the landlord. Some students have great experiences, and others don't.
Health & Safety:
Due to the environment and culture of Geneseo, it is very easy to feel safe. Campus Security is present enough and there are blue lights everywhere. The campus is well-lit, so it's comfortable walking at night. The Health Center receives mixed reviews, but my experiences are positive. Geneseo Healthguards is visible and does great work in health education for students.
I think the Financial Aid office does a good job trying to accommodate students to the best of their abilities, but as a public university their resources can be limited. There is such a low tuition rate that they don't really offer scholarships except in rare circumstances. Most of the hassle with my financial came from outside of the Geneseo Financial Aid office, so I can't blame them for the hiccups I had.
I don't really participate in night life, so my review won't be super helpful. I've heard mix reviews from others, but I have no firsthand experience.
I lived in South Village for a year, which is pretty far from the library and classes and has older facilities. Residence Life faculty does a great job in trying to integrate their residents and have fun activities for them to enjoy. The best dorm on campus hands-down is Monroe, which was just renovated and looks like a hotel. Next-best would be North Village. South Village ranks next, and Central Village is at the bottom because Jones and Livingston are in desperate need of the renovations given to Monroe (though their proximity to classes is the best). I ended up having to move off-campus because of the cost; it wasn't ridiculous, but it was still too much for me, especially when combined with the meal plan.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
