Computers: I applaud my school for being so great with offering technology to the students. We have an abundance of computer labs available all day long. They give us more than enough money to print our work. The wireless internet is usually very reliable, which I appreciate. I don't think that there is a need for a personal computer while on campus because the school provides so many computer labs. They are also up to date on their technology for the labs for the students studying webs design or video production. This is very helpful because a lot of the programs needed are expensive and students wouldn't be able to afford them on their own, so I appreciate that the school has them on the computers so that we can use them for free.

Health & Safety: I think that our campus is very safe and has a very good police presence on campus. Every student is given the number to campus police, so if I'm ever in any trouble I know that there will be someone there to help me. A few weeks ago my car got stuck in the snow on campus and within a few minutes a person from campus police was there to help me. I really appreciated that. They are also always on top of things when it comes to schools closing. I receive a text message, an email, and a phone call when the school is closing of if there is something that i need to know that is happening on campus. I feel very safe while on campus.

Off-Campus Dining: Since we're so close to different shopping centers ,there is an endless amount of places to dine. Whole Foods is extremely close to the campus, so a healthy option is available. There are also many fast food restaurants nearby. There is also a variety of sit down, dinner places nearby. The costs aren't unreasonable for any of these places and are very affordable for a college budget. One of my favorite places to eat is Moe's because it's not too expensive and they offer a variety of choices. They also give you free chips and salsa with every order, which I appreciate.

Transportation: SUNY Old Westbury has a variety of transportation options. Since our school has a lot of commuters, most of the students travel by car. Others use public transportation such as the bus or train. There is also a shuttle bus that takes you from campus to the bus station and vise versa. This is free of cost.

Academics: One of the reasons I choose my school is because it has an amazing Psychology program. The professors know what they're talking about and are very helpful when I need help. I also appreciate how much time they take to prepare u for graduate school and future careers. While studying Psychology i was given the opportunity to participate in an internship which I love. This has allowed me to be prepared for what my future career will be like I also like how I had the opportunity to study a minor in Media Design. Through this I have realized my love for video and cinematography. I was also able to find a part time job through the facilities that my school offers.

Weather: Since we live in the upper east coast, they weather greatly affects our school life. We get snow and ice storms all winter long. This affects the roads for commuters and makes it extremely difficult to get to school or to get back home from school. I think the school should implement more online based classes because of this. Or they could make class sessions online during snow days rather than have make up days.

4 College Junior

Athletics: My school offers many athletic programs for students. One of the programs I thought was cool was that they created a first year lacrosse team where anyone could join- whether you've played lacrosse in the past or not. They are also accomplished in soccer and basketball.

Campus Housing: There are two different types of housing available. To some this can be seen as good or bad. the older housing isn't as spacious or clean. It also is very out of date. The newer housing is more expensive but it is very up to date and closely resembles an apartment.

College Junior

Campus Strictness: I think that how each person views the strictness of their college is different because it stems from the values that they have. My college has a very strict policy on alcohol and we are a "dry campus". This mean this alcohol is strictly prohibited on campus. I completely agree with this. College is a place to broaden your education and prepare you for your future professional career. I think that without this policy in place it would create a difficult learning environment for the students. I don't think that it affects student's social lives, but benefits them by allowing them to be involved in activities that will benefit them and their futures.

My college also has a strict attendance policy. I appreciate this because it teaches students to be responsible with their time and their actions. It also teaches consequences. My schools attendance policy emulates what it will be like in the real world after we graduate. While in a professional career tardiness won't be taken lightly so it's good for us to learn that now rather than later.

Greek Life: Being involved in Greek life isn't as important at my school as it is at others across the country. I think that being apart of the Greek community on campus has many benefits and teaches great responsibility. It also gives students a place where they feel like they belong. I think that my school could benefit from making the Greek life more prominent on campus.

Health & Safety: ok but it is very dark when you have to walk to the bus after the shuttle has run after a late night class.

The professors at SUNY Old Westbury can be helpful and are more than experienced in their fields. Miscommunication can be an issue among students, though, so a little more organization would go a long way in students avoiding frustration and even contempt. Classes are hard but manageable, but most students are able to apply knowledge gained from previous courses and succeed.

The personal level of interest the school takes in students could be better. The registration process must be streamlined and a set system should be established to increase the speed of the process. Otherwise, everyone is very helpful, especially financial aid.
