4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The 4 year vet tech program is demanding, but the classes are great, and I feel like I am learning something that is useful and fun besides.

Campus Resources: I used the library every day of the week, and I love the individual rooms.

4 College Freshman

Campus Resources: The internet connection is great in the library and in the main buildings. It is pretty slow in the dorms, though.

3 College Freshman

Student Body: SUNY Canton is very diverse - both in terms of ethnicity and sexual orientation.

1 College Sophomore

Career Services: Staff very disrespectful sometimes. Seems like they have had flaky students so they just treat every student like you are irresponsible and stupid.

2 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Staff in my curriculum are good. If I could take classes just in my core area I would love this school. Too little flexibility in class scheduling though.

1 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Horrible availability of classes. No way to double major or work ahead.

2 College Sophomore

Student Body: Hit or miss, some people you can tell are there for an education and the other 60% are there for some reason that none of us can decipher.

1 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: Scheduling and curriculum is very frustrating. 2 year civil engineering tech curriculum has you in Physics I, Elementary Surveying, and Pre-Calc and Trig your first semester. Physics and Surveying are heaving into trig by the third week, but the math class waits until week 8 or 9 to start teaching it.

2 College Sophomore

Facilities: Athletic facilities are amazing. School touts itself as military friendly and non-traditional student friendly. It is decent for myself as a veteran. The way they do scheduling leaves a lot to be desired.

2 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: Tuition is dirt cheap but the old adage you get what you pay for could have been written to describe SUNY Canton.

2 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Campus is decent and there are some really good professor but curriculum is disjointed, courses offerings are too few, and there is too much reliance on online pay to learn services like Pearson which the professors do not come even close to understanding how to use properly.

2 College Sophomore

Online Courses: Course material presented is decent. Horrible communication. Took me three weeks to receive a reply to a simple question from a professor this semester.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Decent wireless network with access available almost anywhere.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: College is very poor on communications. In trying to track down scholarship information both the College Foundation and Financial Aid office keep batting you back and forth with no real help. Scheduling is horrible as well. No way to double major or even work ahead, let along make up a class because so few sections of classes are offered. Wish I would have went to SUNY Potsdam instead.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The tuition is really great for in-state students however there are a lot of fees that I find annoying, such as the nearly $200 athletic fee. My class load is so busy that I never have time to use the gym facilities. The financial aid process was a hassle. I received no reminder about WHEN to file for FASFA or TAP. I actually missed the TAP deadline, which was all the way in June. It would have been very nice to receive even a postcard reminder because I really needed the assistance.

Campus Resources: There are tons of bathrooms, which is nice. Walking around in the middle of winter is a downer because the campus is mostly outside, especially the Vet Tech building. As for campus life, I have found it very difficult finding people my age to relate to. There are a lot of party people and girls that don't want to go out of their way to say hi or introduce you into a study group. I have yet to find a study group.

2 College Senior

Student Body: The diversity is not that big at SUNY Canton. It is filled with locals or kids from New York City. Everybody is friendly though but I wish there were other ways of connecting.

4 College Senior

Campus Resources: The computers are abundant and the library computers have photoshop on them, which is nice! Printing in color is usually a hassle because the printer is always backed-up, or not working, etc. The school is generous if you go over your allotted color printing, giving you more credits! Wireless is great!

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: The campus has tons of clubs and fun activities. They also have great ways to stay connected within the profession, such as the Vet Tech Club, which is connected to national chapters. There are always great speakers coming to campus, on a variety of topics. The gym is amazing and the library is usually quiet and provides lots of computer and tutoring assistance. There is a wide variety of food to choose from, although I wish there were healthier options. Also, the Vet Tech building is small and the 'break' area is always crowded and loud, which is a damper considering nearly ALL of our classes are inside that small building.

4 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: The school is pretty cheap for in state students. Not going to break the bank.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: The school's academics are pretty flexible, not too much to complain.

3 College Sophomore

Student Body: Its all over the place. You get a lot of people from the city, but also get people from the North Country.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: The Library and Roo House (gym) are in great shape, the gym was just redone a few years ago. The Library is in great condition, in the winter its warm and in the summer it's cool.

3 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: It is hard in the program I am in to make a schedule a certain way because many classes are only offered at one time.
