For a smaller area, Binghamton has a rather large variety between styles, expenses, and atmospheres of restaurants. It does have a few hidden gems, some trendy cafés, and just about every conceivable chain in existence. There is an abundance of cheap Italian food, and many places stay open late for eat-in or delivery. Getting to most of these places without a car may prove difficult, but most students are more than willing to venture off campus to escape the tedium of the dining halls.
Decent food at a cheap price is the hallmark of Binghamton eateries, the perfect combination for college students. There are also a handful of more upscale restaurants for when the parents come to visit, but be warned: Many places will raise prices during major events like Family Weekend and graduation. During Restaurant Week, though, prices go down and provide specials for students and the local population. Once every semester during this week, local restaurants join together to offer three-course, $10 lunch specials and $25 dinner specials. There is a restaurant for any budget or taste in the area.
