With a closed campus, fully-trained police officers, on-site ambulance service, blue-light emergency phones, and Safe Ride vans making the rounds at night, most students would feel safe anywhere on campus and at any time. Students acknowledge that dorm safety is in their hands, and that it can be relatively easy to get into the dormitories if one waits by the door. However, an intruder would have to gain access to the closed campus before even approaching the dormitories. Overall, major incidents are rare, and should something go wrong, the school is more than prepared.
Some students may complain about an overly-protective security system on campus, but few would argue for the alternative. It just shows that students trust each other to act respectably and responsibly, making it easy to take an effective system for granted.
