3 College Junior

Facilities: I would like to see more green areas on campus; to just hang out. I would also like to see more interesting campus activities on the weekends, because our campus is dead during that time. A lot of freshman leave their first semester because they don't feel as though they are getting the full college experience.

4 College Junior

4 College Junior

  • May Day: This event is on (or around) the First of May and is chock full of many of the things that make VillaFest awesome. There's an outdoor barbecue, free food, music, freebies, and inflatable games. Sometimes there is also a rock wall. There is always a musician after dinnertime to keep the celebration going.
  • Mustang Fest: This Battle of the Bands is hugely popular with students and staff. The bands play, the audience votes, and various companies sell food and give away products to students. The winner of the battle plays as an opener for a benefit at a local concert venue, The Recher.
  • VillaFest Weekend: An annual fall festival that is full of free food, inflatable obstacle courses, games, freebies, music, and fun. The "Fest" of VillaFest is one day. Other parts of the weekend include the homecoming basketball game, a comedian or entertainer, and the Haunted Trail.
Urban Legends
The only area urban legend is that the old mental hospital/institution next to the Owings Mills campus is haunted with the ghosts of patients who were tortured. The facility is in the process of closing and was recently purchased by the University.
Favorite Things To Do
Pandini's is a café/eatery with a small stage and outdoor patio. Musicians frequently play here; if there is no live entertainment, this hotspot has two flat-screen televisions and often hosts parties for sports events like the Superbowl. The Avalon Community Center (known as Avalon) is the most popular hangout on campus. Avalon's main room has foosball, two ping-pong tables, and a television with lots of seating and free WiFi. The television room has a big screen TV, and the room next door has a pool table and board games. Avalon also has a small café with convenience items like snacks and instant meals.
