3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: My school is good to start off with because you get to meet a ton of new people that you would otherwise not hangout with. You also get to hear what other people want to do with their degrees and it makes you reconsider what you really want to do with the rest of your life.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Right now I am only doing my prerequisites so I do not have a major curriculum. The nursing part of my school does have a pretty good program and facilities though.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: The professors are awesome and the registration process is super easy, but they need a better selection of classes.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The student center and library is awesome. I love going to the library. I do not think my school has an athletic center. Campus activies are mainly spred through word of mouth, they need to be broadcasted a little more.

2 College Sophomore

Career Services: There is no alumni network and no job prospects for my school, non that I know of and the career center is very small.

4 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: The tuition is not very expensive, so you are definitely getting your moneys worth. I take four classes a semester and my tuition is only $1500. I do not think that is bad for taking four classes.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: The classes are very easy to register for but the classes seem to be extremely long even in this upcoming fall semester, which is hard to do when you still have to go to work and attend school.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The professors are awesome and seem to know a lot in that subject but the variety of courses offered seems to be limited compared to other schools. That could just be because I am at a community college though.

2 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: As far as I know, there are no job/internship prospects and I do not think there are any alumni networks. I think there may be a career center on campus, but nothing that is noticable.

Online Courses: The first day of online class can be a little confusing because nobody really tells you how to access that online class, but once you figure it out, you can navigate the sites very easily. The teachers are all very good and know that you may have a day that you cannot access the internet, which is okay. Overall, I really enjoy taking online classes.

Student Body: The student body at my school is very diverse. You get to meet new people every semester and everyone is very friendly. The level of acceptance in diversity at my school is amazing. Nobody fights or argues and everyone does not seem to mind if there are people in the class that they do not agree with. If there is an in class discussion and someone brings up their views, everyone accepts that that is that persons personal belief.

Academic Experience: There are a wide variety of classes offered at St. Johns. The classes are fun and challenging. They make you eager to learn and to come to class everyday. The teachers know how to peak your interest and make you retain the information they are teaching. The tutoring sessions are always fun. The tutor and even the teacher come up with games to help you learn. I can still remember a class I took two years ago. Everything I learned is still fresh in my mind thanks to my teacher.

Academic Experience: The workload is a college workload. It isn't that difficult of a workload but it is heavy enough for you to learn and retain the subject at hand. I believe hard work pays off and St. Johns wants you to learn and retain all the information you are receiving. The syllabus is always easy to follow and there are no surprise assignments. The teachers at St. Johns are here to make your college journey easy and not difficult. They want you to learn and not to skate by. I have had so many teachers stay after hours to help me with my homework and studies. If it wasn't for them I would not have a 3.9 G.P.A. I thank St. Johns for making my college life easy.

Overall Experience: I would choose the school over and over again. I live about five minutes away so it is a very convenient college. The staff are always helpful. The classes are small enough to allow one on one interactions with teacher and student. The teachers know how to do their job and go out of their way to ensure you learn the subject they are teaching. I think the campus life is unique. Everyone is always enthusiastic about learning and participating at the little cookouts that take place every now and then. St. Johns is a great school!

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid staff are always there to ensure I receive my pell grant. I have received personal phone calls ensuring my pell grant went through. I suggest to always get your paperwork in on time and everything is smooth sailing. The staff in the financial aid department are always on top of their job.

Campus Resources: The campus has several computer labs for me to work in. Whenever I need to work on a huge project, the library is well stocked and the computer supply is always available. If I ever need help the librarian is always there to help me complete my project on time. The bookstore is also very helpful. They carry all the supplies I need to be successful.

Career Services: Our school works directly with WorkSource. WorkSource is a great program that helps with job placement. I became a phlebotomist at St. Johns and within 2 months I was hired on at a plasma donation center. They helped me work on my resume and cover letter too. They never gave up on me and made sure I found a job.

Facilities: Our school offers several places to sit and enjoy the sunshine. Our activity leader is always putting together little cookouts for students to interact with each other. In our activity building there are several pool tables and ping pong tables. There is a TV for people to bring their gaming consoles. Students are always coming and going and enjoying the amenities. Walking through this building always boost up my spirit. The energy at this campus is very uplifting.

Student Body: There are no diversity issues at St. Johns. Everyone gets along with everyone. The atmosphere is great! I have had several foreign students in my class and the experience was awesome. They enlightened me on their cultures and not only did I learn from my coursework, but I learned of different cultures. St. Johns is a perfect college for mingling.

Online Courses: I loved my online courses. The teacher set up the class so it was easy to navigate. The teacher ensured the students interacted with each other by posting discussion assignments. Accessing the online course was always available and the teacher answered my questions within 24 hours.

4 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: Classes were offered around the clock to fit my busy schedule as an upcoming nurse. The application process was super easy and the staff were more than helpful on getting me started. Great environment for learning and meeting fellow classmates. St. Johns has made college easy for me to attend.

5 College Junior

Career Services: St. Johns really knows how to find careers for students. And for students without a job, the college hold job fairs and also a site of all the employers who are hiring around the area.

4 College Junior

Online Courses: I would much rather like on campus classes because of the visual interactions with the teachers, but I have no complaints about online courses

3 College Freshman

Tuition & Financial Aid: its just hard getting financial aid

3 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: it is a good school

St. Johns River State College is a great place to start your college experience. Students enjoy small class sizes, passionate teachers, and a quality education with a not-so-expensive tuition. The three campuses allow students to attend college at the location closest to them. Since St. Johns is located in the north central area of Florida, many students come from all over the state. Most come to St. Johns for the general associate degrees in the medical field or in the arts. St. Johns also offers bachelor’s degrees in medical, business, and education.

Many different class times are available to fit into the busiest of schedules. Most students work full time or part time and have children while attending SJR State. Students can participate in baseball, softball, student government, and many other student organizations. The recreational entertainment at St. Johns is for all students. Whichever campus, St. Johns has a lot to offer.
