5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The honor code is clear on this. It is pretty much grounds for expulsion if you are caught drinking or drugging.

Scholarships: I didn't have problems. But it is pretty individual.

Nightlife: It's a Mormon school....Not really one for parties.

Off-Campus Dining: I don't eat out all that often. But some of the restaurants are really well priced.

Academics: I am going to be a music major. the program is amazing, but challenging.

Majors: Not too difficult, but not too easy either. Good teachers and good classes.

Off-Campus Housing: I have never lived off campus.

Campus Housing: I live in the modular homes on campus. Takes me five minutes to cross campus, it's great.

Campus Strictness: We have a very strict honor code. Violation could end up in a fine, a visit with the honor council, or even expulsion. Some of the item on the code are: No drinking, drugs, or sex. This helps students focus on making themselves better people.

Health & Safety: I feel very safe here. Our honor code keeps most students from causing trouble, but our Security team is willing to help at any time. Earlier this year, a girl in my dorm started a minor grease fire in our house. Luckily there was a fire extinguisher nearby and the fire was put out. We called security and someone came over in the middle of the night. He asked us if we needed the giant fans from the fire department and was willing to go get them. So, even in a crisis.

Diversity: Even though it is an LDS school, anyone is welcome if they agree to follow the honor code. I have not seen any problems with diversity. Many students are recruited for sports. A lot of them are not Mormon. But they have just as much right to be here.

Health & Safety: We are located in a small town where one doesn't feel scared walking around by themselves for the most part.

Diversity: There are people from all over the world here. We all share similar religous beliefs, but for the most part we are fairly diverse in everything else.

Majors: I didn't have any problems getting into my program. I met with the professor and was able to jump right in. I have found something that I love doing and I have already learned a great deal.

Majors: The Theatre program at Southern Virginia is amazing. They put on incredible shows and the best part is that anyone can participate. You don't have to be a theatre major or have much acting experience to be in a show and that is the best part. I am super excited to continue in this program and learn more about the theatre.

Nightlife: We don't necessarily party like you think, but we do have fun activities and get togethers.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: It is fairly similar to what I grew up with. The biggest problem is there isn't much to do unless you have a vehicle of some sort.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a few off campus housing options; however, it would be cheaper and easier to remain in on-campus housing especially if you don't have a vehicle.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Because of our religous views, drugs are not allowed on campus and most students do not use drugs. While their may be some students who use drugs, they aren't stupid enough to do it on campus unless they want to be kicked out.

Athletics: Most people have come to this particular school because of the environment and the opportunity to play college sports. The relatively small student body allows for most students to participate in a sport of their choosing.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The only problem I have with my housing is the lack of a kitchen and the dinning hall food we are forced to eat. Other than that I absolutely love our dorms.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Its historic. And its safe.
