5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Something about being in Carbondale feels like home. Living here gives me a sense of security.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: There are several shopping centers in town and the transit system allows the students to go around town without having to walk.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: It's a small college town. Things to do around campus but other than that, there's not much.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: We are located in the Shawnee Forest Park area. Not even 10 miles out and there are trials, camping, rock climbing, and a lake. There are several locally owned wineries to visit, tons of small shops in town, and shopping of every kind is possible with the University Mall. We are very close to several souther Illinois attractions. 1 hour north is Cedarhurst Center for the Arts where activities and events happen constantly, an hour south is Paducah Kentucky. An hour East is Indianapolis Indiana. There are several cultural events that happen on campus. The attitude of the locals toward the students are welcoming. They know that having a university in their town produces revenue for all the local businesses.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Carbondale is the best. The natives are amazing people and love the college students. There is always a local event going on may it be an art show, concert or farmer's market. There are small local boutiques and an average size mall. There is the University's sports and about 20 minutes away there is a minor league baseball team which has cheap tickets and it a lot of fun to go to!
