I did not apply for financial aid at Southern. I received a scholarship because I was a transfer student but other than that I didn't have to deal with getting any other scholarships or loans through them. I cannot give a fair assessment of what it's like to deal with the financial aid offices.
The have dumb financial people. They can't do math, so they actually lose money. They have extremely slow notifications of scholarship acceptances.
The financial aid they offer here is good but I hate dealing with the finance counselors. It takes forever to get in to see them and they aren't usually very helpful.
I have received all the financial aid I applied for, but because of my personal financial situation I need more assistance. There are ways to get more aid but it is such a hassle and its a long process. I wish there was a more simple way to get more aid.
I've heard of many stories from students telling us that the financial office will help you if you present your case and let them know that you are willing to do anything. I have done this many times in the three years I have been at Southern, and they have helped me with extending my payment date, but they have not helped me find money in which I can receive money to help pay for school. I was never really satisfied when I left the finances office. I believe they can improve by relating to the students and knowing thisis a tough school to pay for but its where they want to be and they should have many options other than loans to share with students looking for aid.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
