The campus lives out the phrase "don't judge a book by its cover". The actual campus is beautifully landscaped and very pretty. However, living in the freshmen dorm is not that great. The best place to live on campus is Ezperanza or Destino even though they are pretty far from everything. Living in Bethany hall is annoying. The people here are so weird and sing the weirdest songs at all times and all the sounds echoes throughout the hall. At night, you hear the toilet flush at all times. There are "quiet hours" which aren't really enforced. And when it's not quiet hours people are at liberty to scream, yell, blast their music, bang on doors, etc as loud as they want. Wanna take a nap? Good luck. Have a big test tomorrow? Don't expect anyone to be quiet for you. If it's not quiet hours, don't expect respect. The bathrooms are cleaned everyday but still smell bad and the cleaning ladies are loud in the mornings and wake me up all the time. They don't clean on weekends and the bathrooms get really gross. Another thing that is really annoying is the open dorms hours because literally there are scary guys everywhere and they knock on your doors and if you don't answer, they will open your door and walk right in and start talking to you. I haven't made one friend on my hall. The RA's are also a joke. Who knows what they do? The hall meetings are extremely scary. The people and RAs/RD/CLs are incredibly fake. They tell every girl how beautiful they are and are always smiling. I can see right through these fake people. You can't be that nice to every person all the time and actually mean it. This place is full of facades. The people here are only nice because they want something. It's disgusting.
Often times I sit in my dorm room and wonder how in the world all of my stuff fits in here. Literally, my room is so small that you can't even un-bunk the bunk beds. There isn't enough room for two beds to be next to each other- just let that sink in. I share a tiny shoebox of a closet with my roommate. It's basically a battle to pull my clothes out every morning. Don't even get me started on the community bathrooms. I know that dorms aren't supposed to be penthouses, so I'm trying to not have a complaining spirit, but it's kind of the worst. Living with over 200 girls isn't exactly the ideal situation. Almost every time you open your door you hear someone singing. Yes, singing. I guess this is some sort of college-high-school-musical situation? The good thing is that we have cleaning ladies that come every weekday morning to clean the bathroom and once a week mop your floors. Also, we don't have to pay for laundry which is a gift from Heaven. It is recommended to live in Bethany or Bauer in your freshman year, and I have seen a lot of girls make friends on the hall. Basically my whole hall is best friends, which is kind of sorority-esque. Personally, it kind of weirds me out. Aventura has way bigger rooms and is an all-around quieter situation, which is what I would do if I was coming back next year. Esperanza is very similar to Ave, but is more expensive and is in higher demand because it is so close to the volleyball courts. Personally, I say save the money and stay in Ave. It's closer to Chartwells (the cafeteria) and classes anyways. If you're really looking for a sorority kind of thing and you love being around people all of the time and don't care about getting any sleep, then Bethany is for you.
They are clean but it can get loud and some are far from classes.
Bauer Brotherhood is the best! Middle of everything
There are a variety of dorm options, ranging from traditional (hotel-style, indoor hallway) to 8-man suites, to 4-person houses. Getting into the dorm you want seems to be pretty standard. Each dorm has its own social atmosphere. The cost is not competitive with off-campus housing, but the dorms are cleaned every week and are safe. The housing process for on-campus living is easy, but getting approval to live off-campus is much more difficult.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
