5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus and very few crimes take please. There are security guards on campus all the time and everyone is looking out for each other.

1 College Sophomore

Nightlife: SEU does not have parties with alcohol and very few parties actually happen. One Big Night is a big event that is "party-like" that happens once a year. I like the limited parties because it keeps people focused on their education.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The dorms are very close to classes and rules are enforced. Maids visit a couple times a week to keep it clean. The cost is on the expensive side. Living on campus is a great way to make friends.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: SEU is very strict when it comes to alcohol and drugs. In addition, there are only select times that men and women can be in each other's dorms. I like the way the campus is strict because it keeps people accountable and the students are more focused on their studies.

Facilities: The campus is good for the small amount of students that attend. We could use an update on some of the buildings. We are in the process of building new science facilities. The music program could use an update as well.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There's a lot of variety with choices for food. The prices are reasonable as well.

Local Atmosphere: Lakeland is very big and has a lot going on. Theme parks like Disney are only an hour away. There are two malls and two decent sized movie theaters. There are two bowling alleys. Most places close by 10pm so there is not a whole lot of nightlife.

Academics: The professors are very educated. They are great at teaching and communicating with the students. In addition, even with medical problems, the professors are willing to work with the students. Depending on the degree, the workload can be hard, but we learn a lot.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: There are a plethora of degrees offered at SEU. The professors are very educated in their fields. The registration process is easy and there is a lot of help offered if needed from the school. Advisors are willing to work with students to achieve their desired degree.

Scholarships: Southeastern is a private school. Even with the highest academic scholarships I have received, I am still struggling to pay, especially with tuition increases. I wish they would give more opportunity for students that keep high GPA's to continue to earn more scholarship money. They care a lot about their students and work with us, but money is still a very hard part of attending this school.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I have not experienced off campus housing since I commute from my family's home. Therefore, I cannot give a true rating on this section.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: We just got a football team so that will be new this year. Many people are very supportive of the teams and go to the games. We have different spirit nights and people are proud to represent SEU.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: The campus is very friendly. I am very casual and there seems to be more preppy or hipster style people on campus. I have met great people and they are very encouraging.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Southeastern's campus is very safe but there have been times that girls have been assaulted in the outside neighborhood. It's not frequent but it happens. There are people to talk to, but most don't like to talk about it.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Lakeland loves Southeastern students. Everyone's really nice, but you have to be intentional in finding things to do.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Polk County is lacking in fun nightlife (unless you'd like to be in a dangerous party scenario). Tampa and Orlando hold all of the nightlife. As students, we become very creative in coming up with fun nightlife opportunities.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Campus food is extremely delicious. Tuscana Ristorante operates as the cafeteria and offers eight different stations. Mi Casa is also available on campus. It is now being combined with a Chick fil-a and is open until midnight. Although the food on campus is very delicious, healthy options are sort of limited. If you're in the mood for something light and healthy, the salad bar is available. The deli station is also a good choice.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Professors integrate the right amount of curriculum and values into each class. Professors vary just like any other college, but most professors are great people to learn from and have coffee with.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Each class is different from the other and yet comes together to teach one about so much. Registration for classes is pretty easy when you get the hang of it. The work load depends on the professor. Each place on campus is a great study spot. I enjoy going from place to place to keep studying interesting.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great. You are able to see everyone. Each housing area is different in its own way.

Campus Strictness: Southeastern is a Christian University, but it's not as strict as everyone would expect. Guidelines are created to keep us safe and set a bar so that students are living a Christ like lifestyle. Rules are still broken. If the rule that was broken is serious, a student will be sent to covenant counsel which basically allows a student to talk to someone about the rules and possible reasons for doing what they did. On campus life is wonderful if you act like an adult. Rules can be broken within reason.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Athletics at Southeastern are also growing. Basketball has always been the most popular, and now that the school has implemented a football team, sports will continue to grow. A new stadium will open in the Fall.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: Southeastern University does not have Greek life. We do however have an immense amount of clubs and opportunities for students to get involved. There is something for everyone and freshman always have the opportunity to become leaders in current or new clubs.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Southeastern has a great variety of majors from Sports Management, to Pre-med, to our new nursing program. Professors teaching ministry classes and those in the social work program are equally insightful. Our professors and deans have so much to share and each major and college provide a plethora of information and guidance for each program.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I am a social work major/music minor and will be focusing on social work classes this semester. Being involved in the music program is extremely enriching. The music program requires a lot of time, but most music students are used to that. A new music building is being built and will be available for use in the next Spring. As I focus more on social work, I am very excited to start my internship this semester. Professors in the social work program are hands on and willing to help you in any way possible.
