College Freshman

Greek Life: I am not Greek so I do not particularly know much about it.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: There is a lot of partying around campus. The campus is technically a dry campus, but there is still come drinking that goes on, especially at Greek parties.

4 College Freshman

Academics: The classes are of good quality.

Local Atmosphere: I love Cape Girardeau. This place is phenomenal.

4 College Junior

Diversity: We have a ton of international students which is really awesome and keeps the campus interesting. Most people are very accepting of the international students and/or minorities. We have a strong christian based group on campus that is very large and influences a lot of things. No body cares about sexual orientation on our campus, you're free to be who you want to be.

Greek Life: I think the Greek life at Southeast is really a great thing. The Greeks do a lot for the university and the community. We are kind of secluded on Greek hill but it is a lot more fun. People who are not Greek are usually the people who have no idea what Greek life is actually about and just judge from the movies they have watched. Greek housing is pretty available but it varies form chapter to chapter.

Scholarships: It a really easy process that can be done online. I would say just keep any documentation you can just in case something happens. Also, make sure you know the rules and qualifications to obtaining financial aid before you go through the process.

Drug Safety: It is like any college, there is plenty of alcoholic beverages being drank and drunk people on the weekends. I haven't seen a lot of drugs being passed around though. Obviously there is minor drugs like marijuana but that honestly isn't even that prevalent here either.

Health & Safety: We have been rated one of the safest universities in Missouri actually. We have tons of emergency buttons all over campus that are very well lit. Also, there is constantly campus police driving around and checking on things. Southeast's campus is very well lit so it is not a scary place to walk around at night.

Athletics: We have a lot of clubs on campus and they are very full with students. We don't have the best sports teams in the world so they are kind of put on the back burner. Some people have a lot of school spirit and some people could care less. There isn't a huge fan base since our sports aren't very popular but the events really can be fun if you get a group to go and just cheer on the team. The rec centers aren't horrible but they could use some updated equipment.

3 College Junior

Computers: Our campus could really use a few more labs that are open late at night. The cost of printing isn't bad but if you run out of money and you don't have a printer you are pretty much screwed. The network kinda sucks because in a few dorms you don't get wifi so you have to be plugged into the wall, which can be a hassle.

Campus Housing: I had the chance to live in the freshman dorms and the "nice dorms." The freshman dorms are what you would think they would be. They are small and community style and not always the cleanest but they have a great social atmosphere and I recommend living there to meet people and have more fun. The nice dorms are very spacious and you have a private bathroom which is always nice. Those dorms are usually suite style so you are sharing with three other people, but it isn't as bad as it sounds. We are not a wet campus, so the resident assistants are pretty strict on alcohol, but other than that they are mostly laid back and very helpful. Southeast's campus is rather small compared to many schools, so no matter where you live on campus you are usually only a 10 minute walk max from all your classes.

Weather: Missouri already has some crazy weather. It can be freezing one day and sixty the next. We really don't close often unless the weather is really bad and dangerous to be out in.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are tons of places to eat around the campus and town. Most places give you some type of discount for being a semo student. The restaurants are average prices because most are chain places. We have a lot of fast food and fun little places like Burritoville that are only found in Cape Girardeau.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Cape Girardeau has more things to do than people let on. There is a great main street right next to the river with a ton of shops and little cafes to eat at. Also, we have a mall, movie theater, and bowling alley. The students here love to go out to the bars, which are plentiful around here.

3 College Junior

Transportation: The campus shuttles are an okay form of transportation if you have a lot of time in between your classes. They are usually late and there aren't enough pick up spots. But, some people do use them regularly and think they are great. It really depends on the person.

4 College Freshman

Computers: They have plenty of places where you can use computers. The only part that stinks with technology here is that our email is always breaking.

3 College Freshman

Academics: The work load here isn't all that hard at all. As long as you at least try, you'll do fine.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I pretty much agree with how strict our campus is on everything except parking. The parking rules and cost is ridiculous.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life is a big thing on campus and if you want anything to so on the weekends, you should probably join.

3 College Freshman

Weather: We've had a lot of snow this year, so we've had to shut the campus down two different times, which apparently never happens.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: We have many international students and they are very well accepted y everybody.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Average ain't bad ain't good

4 College Freshman

Academics: The work load isn't hard.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Had class close down for two days because of ice, but besides that I love the weather here.
