3 College Sophomore

Facilities: It's a small tech. college, I like that the classes are small and I know many people, but the school isn't very special.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: It's a small college with no sports and a few clubs.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Computers, printers, and Internet are all very reliable at my school.

3 College Sophomore

Career Services: I've heard very little about these services.

College Sophomore

Campus Resources: I'm unsure. I feel that there are a lot of good things but yet there are a lot of things that need to be worked on.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Sometimes the computers can be slow, and the system they have set up can be confusing. Other than that, things are good.

Online Courses: The info was very useful but communication w/ teacher was less than I needed. When I asked for a telephone consult I was told that she did not have time. This impersonal approach may work for some, but I'm from the OLD school and communication is key. Face to face once in awhile is needed. And to charge MORE for a class that takes less man hours/ student to teach is not right. I guess that I am just not up w/ this impersonal approach to learning.

Student Body: Did not have much interaction. I work a 45 hr work week and I did not have time for anything but work.

5 College Junior

Online Courses: Its more personal level since the class sizes are smaller, the teachers are more able to relate what they teach to real life experiences

Tuition & Financial Aid: For the quality of the school and the profession of teachers (have graduates from St. Olaf and Carlton College from Northfield MN teaching) the schools tuition is great, i pay an awesome price that if i went to a university it would probably be triple the cost just for the classes and would not be getting as much out of it because i am short the personal level the teachers get on at this school

Campus Resources: Student Senate and Student life office is a place where students can go hang out get help study ect, its a bit smaller then the lounge so its more of a personal area where everyone is friends

5 College Junior

Campus Resources: Computer network is great!! It is never down, in fact SCC networks for the Police and Hospital

Computer labs are updated with nice working computers

SCC offers you $30 free printing each year.

you cant use your personal computer with there printers.

In the Library, they off black and white and color printing and double sided

Academic Flexibility: The main reason i chose this school is its close, cost effective and has the program I need that has highly knowledgeable teachers in the area I am learning. The Instructors will work very close around both our schedules to ensure what needs to be done gets done and are also very understanding that we have jobs, we have kids, we live out of town. Also if i was to transfer, all my credits will transfer. I love this school.

Campus Resources: South Central College strives to ensure the students receive the knowledge and education that they need. This two year technical college is small and close with the students to make sure they get all the resources and materials that they need to ensure that the student can succeed. Of course they student must be willing to come to the school for the help. The school is going through remodeling and expansion so in a few years the campus will be tip top shape. The reason I grade the school and A- and not an A+ is because of two things, I am a students in an American Sign Language Class and struggling. The school has no tutors at there dispense to ensure that i learn ASL properly. The second reason is no matter what you do, there is always room for maybe just a little improvement

3 College Junior

Career Services: Because this is a technical college, and the school focuses on primarily technical degrees, people who wind up with jobs afterwords usually are involved in a work study program so our career services are okay I suppose.

2 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: It could have been better honestly. However, I would attribute my negative association to the school as a result of unpreparedness on my part. A lot of students in high school spend their time preparing for college, and I did not. So when I enrolled in south central, it was based more on the perspective that, I didn't want to waste my life just working at a place that I didn't appreciate spending my time at all, and that south central would be the first place I should enroll in to do my general academics, and explore my options.

3 College Junior

Student Body: Our community college is very diverse ethnically. Religion isn't a main concern of our student body, everyone is free to believe in whatever they want and everyone is pretty considerate of everyone else.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: I give it a B+ because sometimes the wifi is down and down for a while. However, they have a lot of computers so not having a laptop is not a problem. They are also really good about having people in the lab to help you if your laptop is not working.

3 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: Most of the classes are in a time slot that fits the working world except for begining algebra. I had to go to Riverland Community College for this class. The second thing is that the nursing program is not accredited!

College Junior

Online Courses: Haven't Started Semester – I have not started the semester yet, so therefore i wouldn't know how the online classes are set up.

4 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: I come from a low-income family, so the only way I am able to go to school is by financial aid. The staff at SCC seem to really care about the students and try to help them find ways to pay for the education they desire without having to take out high interest loans. Also they are really helpful when it comes to questions about financial aid, and the school often has seminars designed to teach students to fill out forms like the FAFSA.

5 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Excited for School! I haven't started school yet but so far throughout the registration process everyone at south central has been great. They helped me do my FAFSA and walked me through things step by step. The thought of college used to scare me but now it seems like it will be easy.

College Sophomore

Online Courses: Haven't Taken an Actual Online Course – I prefer class courses to online courses, I haven't taken an online course at South Central but I took one at another school and I didn't like it. I feel diconnected from reality in taking online courses, because in the real world you have to interact witrh people face to face to be successful and feel that online courses set people up for failure when they do get a job. The only good thing about them is that they are convienent, but other than that I have nothing good to say about them.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: It Is a Great Community School So I Give It an a – I think it is a great small school. I chose it because I felt welcomed and felt like the staff really cared about my career goals. The only thing that I found frustrated was that they didn't accept my chemistry from 10 years ago despite the fact that I have a Bachelors degree, but that is a unique problem that is special to my situation, so I didn't take that into account when grading this school. Everything else transferred and they were more than helpful with helping me towards my career goals.
