5 College Junior

Diversity: no one cares if they are different then they live their own lives.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: you have to catch the food on a good day.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are many housing options but depends on one's preference. For high quality apartments, they are still affordable depending on your life's experience and if from out of state.

College Sophomore

Diversity: There's a diverse amount of students on campus and appears to be accepted.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: Unaware of the greek life present on campus.

College Sophomore

Weather: I'm always indoors while on campus so it doesn't affect my experience.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I am content with my choice in major and feel that the curriculum prepares me well for my future career.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: There is no abnormal application process and follows the typical process.

College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I haven't seen any drugs/alcohol taking place on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The policies are effective in preventing harm to students.

College Sophomore

Athletics: I have never been involved in any of the athletics department.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: There are students from different states so there's no typical look.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The workload is manageable and there are opportunities to get involved.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The school offers a wide curriculum and the workload is manageable.

College Sophomore

Transportation: I don't take any of the school's transportation.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: It has its basic needs but is very clean.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: The faculty are extremely attentive and friendly.

College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I currently do not live on campus.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Winchester is nice enough, but there's nothing really to do unless you like hiking. I do enjoy the outdoors, but I can't hike in the wintery months because of all the snow, and that leaves very little else to do besides seeing a movie. The University tries to hype up the whole "2 hours from DC" thing, but again, not very convenient if you don't want to drive 2 hours. ( btw, I can get home in 2 hours so…..)

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: My only complaints are that...

1) RA's aren't very strict. This can be nice, but when it's finals week and people are screaming in the halls at 3am you'll long for a little discipline.

2) Communal showers/bathrooms. Not all halls have them, but if you're unlucky enough to get one that does be prepared.

3) Sometimes the school decides it isn't going to turn the AC on and leaves you to roast. My solution to this has been to leave my window and mini-fridge open. You could also just leave your room and go somewhere where there is AC.

2 College Freshman

Majors: I'm a chemistry major, and quite frankly the entire chemistry department is pretty bad. They're disorganized to say the least and constantly seem like they're trying to figure out what exactly they should be doing. The biology department, however, is extremely organized and much more challenging.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The weather is relatively mild ranging from around 25-100 degrees (F) throughout the year. I live in central PA and our weather patterns are almost identical, so if you're from anywhere around central PA expect more or the same.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I haven't experienced this myself, since I am already local. However, I know of classmates that received no help from the school when trying to find housing of campus. It took them more than four months to find an apartment for the two of them.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: The wireless network is also down and is unavailable in some areas of the campus. Printing on campus requires a personal WEPA account and does cost additional money. A personal computer/laptop is not needed since everyone is provided one. However, a personal printer would be the most cost efficient.

College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I am a commuter student, so I do not get to experience too much of the drug enforcement and party scene on campus.

The overall experience at Shenandoah University is really refreshing. It makes students feel safe that they are on the right path to success in life. It also makes them feel comfortable and prepared enough for grad school once they graduate. Even though there are many schools out there in the world, many students enjoy SU because of the all-around connection they have with the teachers, students, and other staff members on campus.

SU prepares students for future careers in many areas and through many ways. Teachers constantly remind students what to expect in graduate school or things they need to remember for certain fields. SU, as a whole, helps prepare students by having job fairs. Shenandoah invites up to about 100 volunteers to come and talk about their job experiences. The volunteers explain to students what their college life was all about and how the transition is from college to the real world. Shenandoah is very unique because almost every student is there to work and study hard for a future career. The school isn't like many others, where students choose to attend because of parties or frats. SU seems like many of the students are there to meet new people and to expand their horizons.
