4 College Freshman

Academics: SMFA isn't like any other art school. It's very open-ended and there's a lot of freedom to choose what you want to do- this requires a lot of self-motivation, though. It's sink or swim and it's directly related to how much effort you put in. If you're willing to do the work, however, you are surrounded by faculty that will help you be better than you've ever been.

5 College Freshman

Academics: If you're not too academically inclined, you can take your required courses through SMFA- these courses are built for art school students, so it's more attuned to the thinking process of artists. If you're looking for something more challenging, you can take classes at Tufts... Need I say more?

4 College Junior

Academics: The academics at the school it self offers english and art history. The other requirements are taught at tufts university. As an SMFA student it's almost as though you attend two schools: Tufts university and School of the Museum of Fine Arts. That option allows one to pursue an art practice and even a major or minor in an academic field. The only downfall is that tufts campus is far from SMFA campus, but SMFA provides a shuttle to the campus, so that helps. The facilities are well equipped with a Mac lab and library.
