3 College Junior

Athletics: Dont really go to a lot of games

3 College Junior

Athletics: Our sports teams aren't very good, so most students treat them as an afterthought.

3 College Student

Athletics: At my school the students involvement in our school and the community is okay but could make some major improvements on participation of students and teachers.

3 College Senior

Athletics: The campus basketball team is decent but their football team is horrible. Need real recruiters to help the athletic department.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Football isn't great, basketball is good, track and football is awesome. School spirit is crazy here and we love to support our teams regardless of a win or loss. We are a family here.

Do you have athletic pride? Are you prepared to bleed orange and blue? If the answer to both of these questions is "Yes," then you're SSU ready. The Savannah State athletics program is Division I in the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Students support all athletic events, which are free to attend as long as you have your student ID. In addition to varsity athletics, at Savannah State, students have intramural sports that are dynamic and available to all students. So if you have "Tiger pride," you're in for the ride of your life. In August 2011, a new football stadium was completed. Another recent addition includes new athletic recruitment officers being hired in order to ensure continued future success in the department.

A major facility used by athletes, as well as students in general, is the Body Shop, where you can go to exercise. Many machines and equipment are available. The Body Shop is free of charge, and students must have a valid ID in order to be admitted.
