Health & Safety: Security is a huge problem, as there are several crimes and shootings on campus. These cause students fear and unease of their safety at all times.

Campus Strictness: We are a. Very strict campus. While the police can be your friends they are there mainly for protection and they will do what is needed to do so. If you break the rules you will be punished no if ands or buts.

Facilities: Ssu has what's call a " special kind of feel". There is nowhere else you can go and expierence it. Everything is unique because things change from day to day. Nothing is repeat ice so I can say the school is unpredictable. The programs are good with campus life is in full affect.

Facilities: Ssu is very student oriented you will never have to look far for something to do or somewhere to go. The center and buildings on campus each have some history that you should learn. We are very Eco friendly and we do our best to keep our campus clean.

Campus Dining: We have the Union, King Frazier and tiger express to eat from. While there are only 3 places the variety you get from each are amazing. However as the year goes on you have to keep going to different places at different times because it can be repetitive. Each one is equidistant from each other so none are farther than the other and everything cost the same unless you decide to go above your meal plan which is where the dining dollars come in place. They are a god send. On a Thursday night when you hungry and you already used your swipes for the day they are just wonderful!

Overall Experience: I love my school. I value the time I spent there already and I can not wait to go back. The crowd at games, the people relaxing after a full day of classes, the Union at dinner nothing is quite like it. It is plain and simply amazing. My favorite thing to do is go to the student area and play pool. We have a tournement coming up and I can not wait to enter.

Off-Campus Dining: Most if not all of the places surrounding my school have a discount of some kind. There are places where you can eat fast food or dine in with affordable prices depending on where you go. All are close to the campus which is convenient.

Majors: I am an upcoming sophomore and I have not begun taking classin my program.

Majors: I am an upcoming sophomore and I have not begun taking classes in my program.

Athletics: My school is the pits in football and basketball but we are the top in baseball. Many st,dents attend on athletic scholarships and the school has many rival teams with long histories of back and forth wins and losses.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: The students at my school run the gamut from party happy to very determined to achieve academically. Most of the students are 2nd and third generation college students and they take their education seriously. My school has campus parties and most students attend early in the semester then tend to settle down as the semester goes on. Many clubs and organizations exist on campus so there is a variety of things to keep a student busy. Many of the students are openly gay but you will not see them paired up and openly showing affection .

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The process over all was very orderly, there were many people waiting to be served but the flow was excellent and the wait was not unbearable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Health & Safety: As stated above, the campus police keep an eye on things but they do not swarm the students. I feel safe on my campus. While there is crime on campus, I have yet to see it taking more than five minutes for the police to arrive and handle the situation. I feel safe walking on campus at night but I also try to be proactive and avoid situations that could put me at risk.

Off-Campus Housing: Living off campus compared to living on campus is a big difference when it comes to price, convenience, and safety for the students. The pros of living off campus would be no rules, no set time for activities, The cons of living on campus would be safety and reliability.

Facilities: Life on campus is a great opportunity to learn the cultures of the new life and environment and to create new traditions. Campus activities are based upon the needs of the students. Health & Safety: Security and safety is often a issue on most campuses which deters most students from living on campus. Strict policies and values are adhered to keep safety number one for all students. Values are often gained by keeping the rules and laws of the school to prevent injury or fault.

3 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: The financial aid process is grueling and long and should be revamped for students. If there is no federal aid available a student is left with the choice of possible not going to school. This makes it impossible to concentrate on studies and concentrate more on the financial stresses of paying for classes.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Housing: It great living on campus and learning the values of the campus and the school. A first time student appreciates his or her independence and embarks on a new life. The social atmosphere and convenience invites students to be there selves and meet new people. The convenience of a easier process of housing helps to ease the stress of college life.

4 Recent Alumnus

Diversity: There is a wide range of diversity in school which helps to create an environment for learning. Economic, political, and religious beliefs are based upon the ethic culture of the school. Acceptance into a new society or culture will help to advance not only in learning but in new ways to communicate for learning.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: At the beginning of the year everyone is so excited to get back, but then once we eat the food for about a month or two we are ready for something different. The healthier options are more expensive which is ridiculous and then the Starbucks on campus is really pricy too...

From the academics to the social life, Savannah State University is nothing but great. But the college experience is ultimately what you make of it. SSU's historic value is what surprises students the most. The oldest building on campus, Hill Hall, has survived fire. In addition, everyone is so friendly and family oriented, always willing to lend a helping hand. Many things make the school unique, including Felix Alexis Circle, which hosts the Greek "Divine Nine" fraternities and sororities. Many other schools have Greek houses, but SSU has Greek "plots."

The student-to-teacher ratio provides students with one-on-one assistance from teachers, where you're more than just a number. In addition, despite these smaller numbers, students still come together to make a difference. Ultimately, the student orientation leaders (SOLs) and tiger ambassadors (TAs) smoothen the transition from high school to college, and enlighten prospective students about SSU. Both organizations allow upcoming freshmen to feel right at home and welcomed. SSU prepares students to have an open mind, and to network appropriately because it's not what you know—it's who you know.
