Facilities: I would say there are plenty of resources and facilities but not enough of each type; they are spread too thin.

College Sophomore

Academics: I have only taken one class for my major because it is a common area class for all engineers.

Academics: I had to take 2 physics classes which led me to joining a research group with one of my professors.

Athletics: Only the Homecoming football game is made into a big deal.

Campus Housing: I like rule and order so I enjoyed having RAs that would cite people for smoking or drinking in the dorms. The social atmosphere of the non-apartment style dorms is great because there is space to socialize while you can go back to your dorms and have relative quiet to study. The apartment-style dorms require the apartment doors stay closed so meeting neighbors or other people on your floor, or in your building, is much harder than in the non-apartment dorms.

Campus Dining: While most people complain about on-campus dining at any university I praise the one at my university. They employ at least 100 people to prepare and cook all the food, and clean up after all of the people that eat there (which I can only imagine is annoying because so many people can be disgusting and rude).

College Sophomore

Nightlife: I don't participate in drinking events or nightlife activities.

College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have not looked very hard for a job or internship or career relating to my major. There is a career center which helps with the job, career, and internship search.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I've had 4-5 classes each semester and I've always had at least 1 favorite each semester, while disliking maybe 2 or 3 of the professors I've had all together. Most professors are very helpful and encourage their students to visit their office hours (which is recommended so the students that visit office hours stand out from the rest of the class).

Off-Campus Dining: Being located in the downtown area there are plenty of restaurants and fast food joints to go to, both chain and independently owned. The options are very diverse, from Indian to Mexican, American to Thai and Vietnamese.

Scholarships: There are no published dates to expect an award letter. My Cal Grant was not renewed until after SJSU sent my financial aid award and the Financial Aid office did not re-check the Cal Grant status until I called. Upon calling I was told the office would check and add me to the list. I needed the award to show up on my award letter before the 17th of July and the office worker told me I could expect to see the Cal grant in my award in August. Luckily I just had to tell them I couldn't wait that long for them to check and add my Cal Grant to my award.

Greek Life: I have not tried to become a Greek but I know many people who have tried and it was not very difficult, or so it seemed.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Crime seems to be common during the beginning of the semester but the crime usually occurs in ideal places for crime, such as near the ATMs or around the perimeter of campus.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: People typically dress however they want to and hang out with the people they like. If they want to look like someone else they will dress to look like them, if they want try something new or daring they will try it. Social life is not very great on campus unless you live in the freshman dorms of Joe West or The Bricks, otherwise you have to go to a party to socialize. There are events where guys and girls can meet but they might be heavily dominated by one gender or only people that are very outgoing.

Local Atmosphere: Perfect sunny days with no clouds. 9/10 days is sunny. Place looks warm and friendly, however streets can be dangerous at night.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: There are many program and group to join on this campus. The value of a State university diploma gives good creditabilty to the graduate. Employers will look for graduates from this school in terms of engineering, which is the most popular major on tihs campus, however business is also popular.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Before I enroll for the class, i always do my research. I use a system called "spartan scheduler" which is a class assmbleing website that sorts ur classes according to time and teacher's rating on ratemyprofessors.com to the best schedule i can choose from. This program only works for san jose state university, So the teachers i get is always the best i can find. The style and class sizes varies between teacher and subjects, but i choose what i like, so its good.

Majors: The business major program has many events. Theres workshops for tutoring and other fun activities for students to get involved together doing challenging games that requires teamwork. Fun, and great way to network.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: Business classes teaches more about another topic than the actual major.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Active, always something going on but the school spirit is low.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Campus underconstruction, dust flying everywhere

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: I love the atmposphere, everyone is really friendly

College Sophomore

Nightlife: I don't go out at night

2 College Sophomore

Majors: It's hard trying to get into a major

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: San Jose is a big city and has a lot to do in it. It would be a great place to live, but I'm not sure about the big city life as compared to the small town life.
