Academic Experience: I am working on becoming a medical assistant with an associates degree and all the courses that I have taken and will be taking are courses that I expected to take and will also help me to understand the different things I need to understand in the work field.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Tuition is expensive since it is a private college. They offer no grants or loans. Financial aid is done through FAFSA and the only institution that offers referred payment for SJVC is Sally Mae. No other bank. Financial office personnel is very quick and on top of the transactions. Some programs are worth the loan, but some others I don't think so. Definitely, community colleges are your best first bet.

Campus Resources: I give a c to the resources since the school changes classrooms around the city every now and then, the lab for nursing is not big enough to host a class of 30 students, the new classroom needs to be available after hours for study sessions...more organization is needed.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: The campus is very basic: classrooms, labs, small library, and a lounge room. It needs bending machines with more than sodas (coffees and food). It needs study rooms that are open after hours, with boards and tables, and access to internet. A small gym that promoted a healthy lifestyle while studying wouldn't hurt. More organization with regards to grading at lab, or the way clinical sites are carried out is necessary. Classes and program (RN) is fast paced but complete and transferable to any cal state or community college.

Academic Experience: The classes are fasted paced due to the college being accelerated. I could have one on one tutoring with the teachers when they are available. Typically the class is taught at a fast pace but all the material is thoroughly explained.

Academic Experience: I'm currently enrolled in the correctional officer course in criminal justice and the material is very hands on. Everything we learn is dealt with real life experiences that will benefit students to be able to handle any situation that we will have to handle while on the job.

Student Body: All staff on campus respects students equally. Their has been no complaints or problems that has intervened with my studies or learning. All students are treated equally and are respected as adults.

3 College Senior

Career Services: The college resource center is very consistent at finding job placement for students after graduation. Teachers and counselors are very persistent at pushing their students in the right direction to improve the odds of finding employment after graduation.

Campus Resources: i havent seen a school that lets you print out all the things you need for free. i've been to other school who charge ten cents per page. times are hard and its nice to see that we don't get charged for thing other schools charge for. not to mention the FREE tutoring! i always take advantage of tutoring services! everywhere you turn the staff is always smiling and makes you feel so welcomed!

5 College Senior

Student Body: Everyone is friendly here but you can tell that they are here to learn and not to mess around. Thats the main thing i like is that i know in my classes there will not be someone interrupting because we all are dedicated to our studies.

Campus Resources: understandable and easy to work with! theres no hassle at all

3 College Junior

Student Body: Most of the student here are working part-time and are very serious about school, very mature.

3 College Junior

Online Courses: I do not have a strong opinion on online course because i have classes.

4 College Junior

Career Services: After I graduate, the school has school carreer advisors that help each student get a job in their field of study.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: The application process is very smooth. Administrative staff is very helpful and approachable. Classes are small and the interaction with the students and professors is good. The workload is a little bit intense but doable. I understand many of the majors are transferrable to state universities and some of the coordinators of the programs do or have worked at other state universities as well. The tuition is very high though.....I think that's the only downside.

3 College Junior

Student Body: Student body is pretty diverse. Men, women, different ages, different backgrounds, pretty cool.

Academic Experience: I have only been a student at SJVC for about a month in the RN program. I can say some of the professors are a little bit not so organized, and there are some flaws I believe because some instructors are grown up and experienced but some are just a bit too young, or too busy with their own career. I have attended a UC before and I can say this experience at SJVC is still more desireble since you get to know your professors and classmates. So far I can say the exams are hard but not impossible....administration staff has been so far very helpful... I guess I'll see in a few more months...

Academic Experience: I graduated from this college, and so did my fiance. We have to say that getting help from them was heartbreaking. They get you in with a lot of flowery speeches, leading you to believe they will help you find work. (They do NOT help you find a job after you graduate.) Nope, no they will not. And when you call to ask for help (which my fiance did this year since he graduated recently) the coordinator, who was hired to do so, was very nasty, rude, inconsiderate and belittling. It was the same for me, also, I left messages and was never returned any phone calls for help. During your time in the career you are training for you will have a chance to see how much money you 'should' be making per a salary site they have you use, lets just say that in today's recession you will more than likely not make half of what it says your career choice should be making. This school does not inform you that they are just the basics, that after you graduate you MUST apply for a university or else your degree is pretty much like a high school diploma. The only value in it is to say you did some college, but not enough to get you a good job in these times. The teachers were not 'teacher'-teachers but former employees in their career choices. Therefore they have no degree in teaching you like a college professor would. These teachers do what they are told, get you in, cram cram CRAM you full of information for 5 weeks, then send you off to your next set of classes. Those that I had were mildly professional while some just were generally there to get paid. We both regret having gone to this college because now we have thousands of dollars in loans to pay and no jobs available to assist us. We are grievously disappointed.

Campus Resources: It is very neat and clean and my admissions advisor was very enthusiastic.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: SJVC offers competitive opportunities, career help, curriculum that pertains to your field of study, fast and easy registration process, extern hours, campus department clubs, and a professional environment.

Tuition & Financial Aid: There are some advantages and disadvantages of being a SJVC student. Some advantages are having the most experienced instructors, having the financial aid report directly to you, and getting full knowledge of loans, grants, and other types of aid. Some disadvantages are not being able to keep your Pell Grant, because it goes directly to tuition and payments, pulling out the rest owed through substantial lenders, and the cost being so high because it is a private JC.

Academic Experience: SJVC has been the greatest experience for me and they have been wonderful in all aspects. If I could afford to continue my education right now...I would stay with SJVC and would recommend them to everyone and anyone!
