San Francisco is famously known for its good eats, so students are more likely to travel off campus and taste all that the city has to offer. Most restaurants are pretty cheap, unless one is traveling far into the city, like into the Financial District. Popular cheap eats include the amazing sandwiches of Ike's Place in the Castro and Park Chow on Ninth and Irving.
Overall, any type of cuisine is capable of being found within the seven-mile stretch of San Francisco. While many are not within walking distance from campus, the city's vast public transportation system can take you anywhere. Vegans and meat-eaters alike will enjoy the menu of Herbivore, and when in the need for cheap Mexican food, El Castillito is the hottest spot. The prices can get a little steep as a student goes past the Castro district, but in the end, prices stay within students' ranges for the most part—unlike the housing prices.
